Cancer is not only affected by diet and environmental factors, but also has a lot to do with our genes. And cancer can be passed on to the next generation. So do you know which cancers can be passed on to the next generation? If there are cancer patients in your family who are prone to hereditary cancer, then you must be careful to prevent it. 1. Breast cancer: Breast cancer has a clear genetic tendency, especially among direct relatives. Generally speaking, if the mother has breast cancer, the daughter's chance of getting breast cancer is 2 to 3 times higher than other healthy women. Women with a family history should have breast health examinations in advance at around 30 years old. Generally, B-ultrasound examinations are mainly performed before the age of 35, and mammography is performed after the age of 35. Angelina Jolie, a famous Hollywood actress, once discovered based on the results of a breast cancer gene test that she had a congenital BRCA1 gene defect, with a lifetime risk of breast cancer of up to 65%. She therefore underwent a total mastectomy and reconstruction surgery, and called on women with a genetic predisposition to take proactive measures. Science has confirmed that the occurrence of hereditary breast cancer is related to defects in these genetic materials, that is, people with genetic defects are prone to breast cancer, so breast cancer is passed on to the next generation through the transmission of genetic defects. Such genetic defects have been found in white women, the most common of which are mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Women carrying such defects have a much higher risk of breast cancer than the average person. Therefore, detecting these genetic defects in people at high risk of breast cancer is conducive to early diagnosis and early prevention of breast cancer. 2. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma has obvious racial susceptibility, regional clustering and familial tendency. People with a family history of nasopharyngeal carcinoma are recommended to have regular checks for Epstein-Barr virus. 3. Liver cancer: Liver cancer is also hereditary, which has been recognized by the medical community and confirmed at the genetic level. The most obvious clinical feature of genetic susceptibility to liver cancer is family history, that is, if there are multiple liver cancer patients in several generations of the same family, the family's chance of suffering from liver cancer is higher than that of an ordinary family. If parents are diagnosed with liver cancer, their children are the first-level prevention targets, because the vertical transmission of hepatitis B virus can easily cause a family clustering tendency for liver cancer. If there is a liver cancer patient in the family, their children should undergo regular comprehensive liver examinations, such as full liver function tests, B-ultrasound, etc., regardless of their physical condition. 4. Bowel cancer: Many patients with intestinal cancer start with intestinal polyps, which eventually develop into colorectal cancer. But what you don’t know is that “familial adenomatous polyps” are autosomal dominant inheritance, and the result we ultimately see is familial colorectal cancer. 20%~30% of colorectal cancer patients have a family history of various types of cancer. If a direct relative in the family suffers from familial intestinal polyposis, then the family must go to the hospital regularly for relevant examinations. 5. Gastric cancer: Gastric cancer is closely related to heredity and has a clear family clustering phenomenon. If at least two people in one or two generations of a family are sick, and one of them is younger than 50 years old, and all patients are diffuse type, it may be hereditary gastric cancer. Since the early lesions of hereditary diffuse gastric cancer are relatively hidden, regular gastroscopy examinations are required. 6. Thyroid cancer Clinically, it is found that if there are 3 or more first-degree relatives (such as parents, children, and siblings) in the family, the probability of the family having hereditary disease will exceed 94%. Therefore, if there are 2-3 relatives in the family who have suffered from thyroid cancer, it is recommended to carry out prevention and genetic screening as soon as possible. The above cancers have obvious genetic tendencies. If some members of your family have liver cancer, breast cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, stomach cancer, or intestinal cancer, then you must pay attention to your lifestyle and eating habits, and have regular comprehensive physical examinations to avoid triggering the cancer genes in your body. Of course, there are still some advice to tell you: 1. Develop good and healthy eating habits, eat fresh fruits and vegetables regularly, and eat less unhealthy food; 2. Keep exercising and avoid overnutrition; 3. Maintain psychological peace and avoid long-term negative emotions; 4. When a family member is diagnosed with cancer, you should find out the cause of the cancer and improve your living environment without panicking. 5. The most important thing is to improve self-care awareness. For example, self-examination of breasts is an effective way to detect breast cancer early. Be alert to unexplained weight loss, blood in the stool, cough and other symptoms that may not be obvious in the early stages of cancer. Regular physical examinations are helpful for early diagnosis of cancer. |
