1. It is said that Tang Monk and his three disciples went to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures after going through numerous hardships. Although it was very hard as they had to climb mountains and wade through water, slay demons and monsters along the way, it was a very fulfilling journey.

2. One morning, Tang Seng got up and was about to call a few disciples to continue their journey, when he suddenly felt dizzy, his head spinning, and he couldn't stand steadily. He dared not open his eyes, and then he vomited violently. Sha Seng was immediately panicked, and quickly supported his master, calling out loudly: "Big Brother, Master is sick!"

3. Tang Seng lay in bed and dared not move, let alone turn over. If he turned over, he would feel more dizzy, nauseous and vomit. Could it be that he had a stroke? How could he go to the West to obtain the scriptures? Sun Wukong scratched his head, at a loss.

4. In desperation, Wukong had to fly to the South China Sea to seek help from Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin Bodhisattva asked about the condition and smiled: "Don't panic, your master has otolithiasis, and he will be cured immediately through repositioning treatment!"

5. Otolithiasis? Sun Wukong had never heard of such a disease. Could it be the earwax in the ear that was causing the trouble?

6. Guanyin Bodhisattva smiled and said: This otolith is not earwax! In the human ears, there is an organ that regulates the body's balance - the vestibule. There are some small stones in it that sense the change of the center of gravity, called otoliths, which are invisible to our naked eyes. Due to head trauma or local structural degeneration due to old age, otoliths fall off from their original positions and fall into the semicircular canals. When the head position changes, the stones roll inside and cause dizziness.

7. The Bodhisattva continued to explain to Wukong: Otolithiasis, also known as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, is generally not life-threatening. Through repositioning treatment, the small stones that have fallen out can be returned to their original positions, and most people will recover quickly.

8. Guanyin Bodhisattva followed Wukong to Tang Seng, asked him to lie on the bed, turned his head left and right, and determined that there was a stone in the semicircular canal of the right ear. Then he treated Tang Seng several times in this way at the head of the bed, and then asked Tang Seng to get up and try again.

9. It was a miracle that he was able to heal the disease in one stroke! Tang Seng immediately felt refreshed, his head was no longer dizzy, and he could see things clearly, as if he had become a different person. Tang Seng immediately knelt down to worship the Bodhisattva, expressing his gratitude.

10. After a short rest, the four masters and apprentices were full of energy and continued their journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures.

Finally, we should know that otolithiasis has three main characteristics:

1. Short: The dizziness lasts for a short time, and most of the time it will be relieved in less than a minute.

2. Movement: I feel dizzy when I move my head and I dare not turn over or lower my head.

3. Bed: Most of the attacks occur during sleep, especially when lying down, getting up or turning over.

If you suddenly feel dizzy when you lie down, get up, or turn over in your sleep, you must think that the stone in your ear may have fallen out! Please go to the hospital as soon as possible. The doctor will quickly cure the disease through repositioning treatment!
