【6.6 National Eye Care Day】Preventing myopia among young people and making the world more beautiful

Today is the 28th National Eye Care Day, and this year's theme is "Pay attention to general eye health." With the changes in the eye environment, eye habits and eye needs of the entire population, it is urgent to prevent and control eye health problems for people of all ages.

Eye care

For myopia in teenagers, prevention is the key.

Data from the National Health Commission shows that the overall myopia rate among children and adolescents nationwide was 53.6% in 2022.

The main clinical manifestations of myopia are:

Blurred vision at a distance, good vision at close range, squinting when looking at distant objects;

It is often accompanied by symptoms such as poor night vision, floaters, floaters and flashes of light.

Current research shows that myopia cannot be cured. Prevention is the key to preventing and controlling myopia among teenagers.

To prevent myopia, you need to do the following to keep your child's eyes healthy

01****Correct writing posture

When writing, the distance between your body and the table should be one fist, the distance between your eyes and the book should be one foot; the distance between the fingertips holding the pen and the tip of the pen should be one inch.

02**** Take a rest

Take regular breaks for your eyes:

Study for 20 minutes and look far away for 20 seconds;

Take a 5-minute break after every 1 hour of study;

Study for 2-3 hours, then stand up and move around.

03****Outdoor Sports

If teenagers ensure more than 2 hours of physical activity every day and insist on outdoor sports, the occurrence of myopia can be effectively delayed.

Participate in more moderate to high-intensity aerobic exercises, such as swimming, jogging, cycling, skipping rope, etc.; each exercise time should be controlled to about 30 minutes, and exercise 3-4 times a week.

It can relax your eyes and prevent myopia.

04****Reduce electronic products

Try to choose paper books to read and reduce the use of electronic products. For teenagers and children, if the eyes are in a state of fatigue for a long time and are not relieved and adjusted in time, it may lead to pseudomyopia.

If pseudomyopia is not treated in time, it will eventually turn into myopia. If the person already has myopia, the degree of myopia will worsen.

05****Adjust reading light

Do not read in strong or weak light.

If the reading light is too strong, it will cause strong reflection, which will irritate the eyes and make them uncomfortable. If the reading light is too strong, it will increase the burden on the eyes and easily lead to myopia.

06****Reasonable diet and nutritional supplements

Some experts point out that diet can also affect vision, so paying attention to daily diet nutrition is very helpful in preventing myopia and improving vision.

In addition to consuming rich protein in your daily diet, vitamin A, B2, niacin, vitamin B1, and polyunsaturated fatty acids are also good nutrients for protecting your eyes.

07****Regular physical examination

Go to a professional medical institution regularly for eye vision and visual function examinations to avoid worsening of eye problems such as myopia.

08. Get enough sleep

Teenagers should get 8 to 10 hours of sleep.

You should not go to bed too late. It is recommended to go to bed before 11 o'clock at night at the latest and get up between 5 and 6 o'clock in the morning, which is a more reasonable sleep time.

Ensuring adequate sleep and developing good habits are beneficial to your health.

In daily life, we must start with the details and maintain eye health in all aspects to make the world we see brighter!
