Do you know the precautions for amniocentesis?

I believe every pregnant woman wants to know whether her baby is healthy? Some ordinary B-ultrasound examinations may not be very detailed, so amniocentesis becomes a necessary examination item. When conducting such an examination, you must understand the precautions for amniocentesis.

Precautions before amniocentesis:

1. Pregnant women should refrain from having sex three days before preparing for amniocentesis.

2. You should take a shower the day before amniocentesis, because the puncture site should not come into contact with water within three days after the procedure.

3. If the hospital for amniocentesis is not local, the pregnant woman should go to the hospital the day before, rest well, and go to the hospital the next day in a good mental state. You should arrive at the hospital one hour in advance after lunch to rest and wait, and must be accompanied by family members.

4. If you have any abnormalities such as cold, fever, skin infection, etc. 3 to 7 days before amniocentesis, be sure to inform the doctor when registering for the appointment.

5. If the pregnant woman has a history of allergies, special diseases or other conditions that need to be explained, please inform the doctor when registering for an appointment.

6. Pregnant women should urinate 10 minutes before amniocentesis.

Things to note after amniocentesis:

1. Sit quietly and rest for at least 1 hour after amniocentesis. If there is no abnormality in the body within an hour, pregnant women who live nearby can choose to go home and rest, while pregnant women who live far away can choose to continue resting for 1 hour before going home.

2. If a pregnant woman comes from other places for amniocentesis, it is best to rest for one night in the local area after the procedure and go home the next day to avoid adverse reactions caused by long-term car ride after amniocentesis.

3. Do not bathe within 24 hours after amniocentesis, and do not let the puncture site come into contact with water within three days to avoid infection.

4. Pregnant women should pay attention to rest more after amniocentesis and avoid doing a lot of physical activities such as lifting heavy objects.

5. Sexual intercourse should be prohibited for half a month after amniocentesis, although it should be avoided even if amniocentesis has not been performed.

6. If a pregnant woman has symptoms such as abdominal pain, abdominal distension, vaginal discharge, bleeding, fever, etc. within three days after amniocentesis, she should go to the hospital immediately. We cannot waste time. If the amniotic fluid leaks, the fetus may die.
