A variety of infectious diseases are prevalent! What are the different symptoms? A quick picture

Recently, disease control centers in many places have issued reminders that Norovirus, HRSV virus, psittacosis, etc. have entered their peak period.

In addition, spring is a period when common infectious diseases among children are prevalent, and diseases such as influenza, measles, and chickenpox may strike quietly.

All these diseases have one thing in common - fever.

I have a fever. What disease do I have?

What are the clinical manifestations of different diseases?

Norovirus

One of the common pathogens that cause acute gastroenteritis, it has the characteristics of low infection dose, long detoxification time, and strong resistance to the external environment.

Incubation period: 12-72 hours, usually 24-48 hours. Most patients recover within 2-3 days after onset.

Transmission route: Infection through ingestion of food or water contaminated by feces or vomitus, contact with patient feces or vomitus, inhalation of aerosols produced by vomiting, and indirect contact with contaminated objects and environment.

HRSV

Human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) is a member of the Pneumoviridae family.

Incubation period: Usually 2-8 days.

Transmission route: contact transmission, such as contact between the nasopharyngeal mucosa or ocular mucosa with secretions or contaminants containing the virus; close contact with patients coughing or sneezing, etc.

Psittacosis

Also known as bird plague, it is a zoonotic infectious disease of humans, birds and other animals caused by Chlamydia psittaci.

Incubation period: generally 6-17 days, shortest 3 days, longest 45 days.

Transmission route: Infection through inhalation of aerosols contaminated by secretions or excrement of infected poultry, or through contact.

influenza

Abbreviated as influenza, it is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by influenza virus and is highly contagious.

Incubation period: 1 to 3 days. The patient is contagious 1 to 7 days after onset of illness and is most contagious in the first 2 to 3 days of the disease.

Transmission route: Mainly through air droplets, and can also be transmitted indirectly through objects contaminated by the virus.

Note: In the early stages of infection, especially within 48 hours of onset, the use of anti-influenza virus drugs can significantly reduce the incidence of severe influenza and death.

measles

It is an acute respiratory infectious disease that can occur throughout the year, mainly in winter and spring.

Incubation period: Rose-colored maculopapular rash begins to appear behind the ears on the 4th day. The rash usually spreads to the whole body within 2-3 days and lasts for 4-7 days.

Transmission route: The patient is the only source of infection and is contagious from 2 days before onset to 5 days after the rash appears. It is mainly transmitted through droplets or direct contact with the patient's secretions.

Note: If you develop fever again 2-5 days after the rash appears, or have symptoms such as headache, drowsiness, or convulsions, you should be alert to measles encephalitis.

chicken pox

An acute infectious disease that is generally susceptible to the population, with a high incidence age of 1-14 years old. Varicella is highly contagious, and a single attack can confer high immunity throughout life.

Incubation period: About 2 weeks.

Transmission route: Mainly through droplets through the respiratory tract, or through contact with objects contaminated by the virus.

Hand, foot and mouth disease

An acute infectious disease caused by enterovirus, mostly occurring in children under 5 years old. Most children recover on their own in about a week, but a few develop serious complications of the nervous system and respiratory system, and the disease progresses rapidly.

Transmission route: Mainly through digestive tract or respiratory droplets, or contact with patient's skin, mucous membrane rash fluid.

In addition to the above diseases, fever may also be caused by diseases such as rubella, mumps, scarlet fever, dengue fever, etc.

Washing hands frequently, ventilating the room frequently, wearing a mask, eating a healthy diet, and improving one's own immunity are effective measures to prevent infectious diseases.

If your body temperature persists above 38.5°C, or if other severe symptoms occur, seek medical attention promptly.
