According to the latest data from IDC's Global Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker, the Indian tablet market (including detachable and tablet-type devices) will ship 5.73 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 42.8%. Among them, detachable tablets and tablet-type devices grew by 30% and 47.2% year-on-year respectively. Due to the delay of some government orders, the commercial market fell by 17% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2024. In 2024, the consumer market grew by 19.2% year-on-year, mainly due to e-commerce promotions, discounts and cash back activities. Samsung led the e-commerce channel with a market share of 24.4%. The commercial market grew by 69.7% year-on-year, with the education industry performing particularly well, growing by 104.5% year-on-year, mainly due to the increase in government-funded education projects, while the very large business (VLB) sector fell by 9.9% year-on-year. Highlights of the top five manufacturers: Samsung leads the market in 2024 with a 42.6% market share, while accounting for 51.1% and 32.1% in the commercial and consumer markets, respectively. Samsung maintained a 35.5% market share in the fourth quarter of 2024, thanks to its strong performance in public sector education programs, active promotion in consumer channels, and large inventory push during online sales. Acer ranked second with a market share of 18.7%. It performed very well in the commercial market, accounting for 32.8% of the market share, and completed several key government and education orders. The manufacturer's market share in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 8.9%. Apple ranked third with a market share of 11%. It performed well in both the commercial and consumer markets, with year-on-year growth of 45.3% and 4.7%, respectively. The growth in the commercial market was mainly due to the increased adoption of iPad by senior executives in enterprises and government departments and fast-moving consumer goods companies. The manufacturer's market share in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 18.1%. Lenovo ranked fourth with a market share of 9%. Its consumer market grew by 18.6% year-on-year, mainly due to strong demand for its models priced between US$150 and US$250 in e-commerce channels. The manufacturer's market share in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 12.5%. Xiaomi also tied for fourth place with a 9% market share and achieved a year-on-year growth of 101.7%. The growth mainly came from strong shipments in the third quarter of 2024, accounting for 27.3% of the consumer market. Its focus on offline and e-commerce channels and the launch of new products drove this growth. The manufacturer's market share in the fourth quarter of 2024 was 10.5%. |
