data.ai: Data shows that the number of weekly active users of Threads has reached one-fifth of Twitter and 86 times that of the social platform Truth Social.

According to foreign media reports, Meta's social application Threads is catching up with Twitter in the number of active users.

According to statistics from data.ai, an application intelligence company, Threads has one-fifth of its competitor Twitter's weekly active users, and 86 times that of the social platform Truth Social (which had 1 million weekly active users last week). Threads is a social application launched by Meta on July 5, directly targeting Musk's social platform Twitter. Threads attracted more than 100 million users in just four days after its launch, while OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT reached this milestone two months after its launch.

Foreign media said that the reason why Threads was able to achieve such rapid growth was because Meta bundled the service with Instagram, which has more than 2.35 billion monthly active users.

It is reported that Treads' functions and interface are similar to Twitter, and it can directly synchronize Instagram users and fans, and can post, like, comment and share. However, there is a word limit for each post, which does not exceed 500 words. In addition, unlike Twitter, Treads does not limit the number of posts users can view.

Although Threads attracted more than 100 million users in just four days after its launch, data from app intelligence company Sensor Tower late last week showed that the number of daily active users of Threads declined on Tuesday (July 11) and Wednesday (July 12), down about 20% from July 8.

But data.ai points out that Threads' popularity is far from over. According to current estimates, Threads has been downloaded more than 150 million times, 5.5 times faster than Niantic's mobile RPG "Pokemon GO".

data.ai’s survey results show that the top five countries with the most Threads downloads are India (33%), Brazil (22%), the United States (16%), Mexico (8%) and Japan (5%).

Last week, analysts at investment bank Evercore ISI predicted that Threads will generate $8 billion in annual revenue by 2025. In addition, the app is expected to have 200 million daily active users within the next two years.
