Qingbitang: What is vasomotor rhinitis?

Vasomotor rhinitis is the most common type of non-allergic rhinitis, with 6 to 7 of every 10 non-allergic rhinitis patients belonging to this type. In the general population, about 4 out of every 100 people suffer from vasomotor rhinitis.

There are many factors that induce vasomotor rhinitis, the most common of which is dry and cold air, especially in the northern winter when it is cold outside and dry inside. Many people start to wipe their noses constantly. The root cause of vasomotor rhinitis is believed to be related to the release of parasympathetic neurotransmitters and histamine, which leads to vasodilation and glandular secretion, resulting in related symptoms. In addition, from a physiological structure point of view, nasal septum deviation is a related factor; anxiety and tension, as well as endocrine dysfunction, are also inducing factors.
