Anyone who sees this article, please tighten your anus 20 times immediately! Lifting the anus is the most sincere greeting between friends; lifting the anus is a reminder more heartwarming than drinking hot water; lifting the anus is a familiar face on the Internet that is on par with Crazy Thursday. The question is, if you want to keep your anus healthy, is it useful to do anal levator exercises? If so, how useful is it? How effective is it to lift the anus and protect the anus? I found 89 domestic papers from journals of different levels that studied the effects of anal lifting and the prevention and treatment of hemorrhoids, and they all said that anal lifting is good . One of the studies conducted an experiment. 60 patients who had just undergone hemorrhoid surgery were randomly divided into two groups: Patients in the control group received routine postoperative rehabilitation; In addition to conventional rehabilitation, patients in the experimental group also received levator ani muscle functional training, including levator ani training, supine knee flexion training, finger expansion training and anal contraction training. After 15 days, the complication rate in the control group was 76.67%, while in the experimental group that added levator ani muscle functional training, the complication rate was only 13.33% [3]. The researchers analyzed that levator ani muscle training squeezes the stagnant perianal veins, speeds up venous return, promotes local blood circulation, and also promotes intestinal peristalsis, making bowel movements smoother - this is a great blessing for patients who have just had surgery on their anus. However, in more substantial studies, and in the wider academic community, there is very little research on levator ani. From this perspective, levator ani may be beneficial for preventing and relieving hemorrhoids, at least it has no harm (and it doesn’t cost money). It’s good to do levator ani whenever you have time! It's difficult to protect the anus just by lifting the anus! However, relying solely on anal lifting to prevent hemorrhoids may be a bit too optimistic . You may not have hemorrhoids now, but everyone has the "seeds" of hemorrhoids in their anus. They look like a hair ring and are called anal cushions . Normally, the anal cushions are congested, tightening the end of the rectum so that feces will not leak out; when you are ready to have a bowel movement, the anal cushions will no longer be congested and will quickly shrink, making way for defecation. But the anal cushions are also very fragile. If you sit or stand for a long time, exert force when you are constipated, go to the toilet frequently when you have diarrhea, have increased abdominal pressure during pregnancy, have high blood pressure, have a family history of hemorrhoids, etc. , you may cause the anal cushions to swell, become congested, and inflamed, and fail to shrink in time. When you squeeze out the poop, the fragile anal cushion tissue may also be squeezed out. Sometimes the anal cushion tissue will be squeezed out by the poop, resulting in a bloody toilet. The "seed" anal cushions sprout and turn into hemorrhoids that make it difficult for you to sit or lie down and to defecate or urinate . You see, everyone has the "seeds" of hemorrhoids, and there are many conditions for the "seeds" to germinate. To prevent hemorrhoids, you have to start from many aspects , such as eating more dietary fiber, drinking more water, and exercising more (including levator ani exercises), ensuring smooth bowel movements, not holding back bowel movements, not straining to defecate, and not taking too long to defecate, otherwise you can bear it, but your anal cushion cannot. Can lifting the anus keep the anus safe? Wishful thinking! Are you at high risk for hemorrhoids? Hemorrhoids' attitude towards humans is basically philanthropic . In my country, the incidence of hemorrhoids is the highest among anorectal diseases, accounting for approximately 50% to 60% in different regions[4]. On the other side of the world, in the United States, hemorrhoids rank among the top three conditions in gastrointestinal outpatient clinics, with 4 million visits each year[6]; more than 75% of people will get hemorrhoids at least once in their lifetime; and more than 50% of people have had hemorrhoids before the age of 50[7]. Hemorrhoids are a predilection for certain groups of people . According to statistics, the people most likely to develop hemorrhoids are as follows[4][5]: Young and middle-aged people - people aged 30 to 49 have the highest rate of hemorrhoids; Drivers and teachers – the prevalence rates were 49.66% and 50.59% respectively, mainly because they often stand/sit for long periods of time; High education - people with graduate degree or above have a relatively high rate of hemorrhoids; People who smoke, drink, don't defecate, are constipated, don't like to exercise, and sit on the toilet for half an hour are also prone to hemorrhoids. In addition, the relationship between gender and the incidence of hemorrhoids has not yet been determined. Young girls, young boys, old men and old women can all get hemorrhoids. Take a look at these characteristics that hemorrhoids prefer. How many of them do you have? Pay more attention to your anus! Is Kegel exercise the anal lifting? There are not many technical requirements for anal lifting, you just need to find the feeling of "pinching off the poop", clamp it for a few seconds, relax for a few seconds, and do it several times. Many people tend to confuse anal lifting and Kegel exercises, but in fact there are subtle differences between the two. Kegel exercises train the pelvic floor muscles: find the feeling of holding urine, hold it for a few seconds, relax, and repeat. Kegel exercises are mainly used to prevent urinary incontinence in women after childbirth, and they also have the effect of preventing fecal incontinence - after all, the pelvic floor muscles are composed of many muscles, including the muscles near the anus.
