comScore: Key data of the US mobile communications industry in Q3 2012: Samsung's market share is 26.9%

On the morning of January 4, 2012, market research company comScore released the main data of the US mobile communications industry from September to November last year. Samsung is still the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the United States, with a market share of 26.9%. Google Android is the largest smartphone operating system, accounting for 53.7%. Apple iOS accounts for 35%. It is worth noting that Apple replaced LG and became the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the United States.

OEM

From September to November last year, Samsung was the top OEM (original equipment manufacturer) in the United States, with a market share of 26.9%, up 1.2% from June to August. Apple ranked second with a market share of 18.5%, up 1.4% from June to August. LG, Motorola Mobility and HTC had market shares of 17.5%, 10.4% and 5.9% respectively.

Smartphone Platform

From September to November last year, there were 123.3 million smartphone users in the United States. The smartphone penetration rate reached 53%, up 6% from June to August. Google's Android system had a market share of 53.7%, up 1.1% from June to August. Apple's iOS had a market share of 35%, up 0.7% from June to August. RIM BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Phone and Symbian had market shares of 7.3%, 3% and 0.5% respectively.

Mobile content consumption

From September to November last year, 75.9% of US mobile users used text messaging, up 0.3% from June to August. 54.2% of users downloaded apps, up 0.8%. 52.1% of users used browsers, up 0.1%. 39.2% of users used social networking sites or blogs, up 0.9%. 33.7% of users played games, down 0.3%. 28.7% of users listened to music, up 0.4%.
