HTML5 is seen as the future of mobile apps

HTML is a series of browser function protocols that can provide the same experience as native APP

For various reasons, many manufacturers have supported HTML5 and made corresponding deployments, including Google, Apple, Facebook, and even Adobe.

But ideals are always higher than reality, and HTML5 has fallen from its peak expectations; HTML5 faces platform differentiation, challenges such as insufficient native application experience, and lack of webapp distribution and profit channels.

The following figure shows the test scores of HTML5 on different platforms. You can see that the scores of different platforms are different, which shows that different platforms have different levels of support for HTML5. The platforms are facing the danger of differentiation.

The elements that determine the success of a platform include software foundation, developer ecosystem, profit, distribution and retail. However, HTML is always one step behind native APP in terms of software platform functions. Although developers use the same programming language, they have to call different APIs. Currently, the webAPP channel has not yet been formed.

Google and Facebook are trying to build an HTML5 ecosystem and platform. Google builds a software foundation through the Chrome API, unites web developers, and uses Google Checkout to build a payment system. The distribution channels cover PC, Mac, Android, and Chrome OS; applications can be released through the Chrome Web Store
Facebook built HTML5 software foundation through Facebook APIs, gathered Web and Flash developers, built payment system through FB Credits, backed by 900M Facebook users, and used FB app recommendations as a channel for application distribution.
