Seven of the 18 Android phones never ran the latest version of the Android operating system;

– 12 of the 18 Android phones were running the latest version of the Android operating system, but Android released a new version shortly afterwards;

– 10 out of 18 Android phones are using versions older than two years ago;

– 11 out of 18 Android phones stopped supporting version updates one year after launch;

– 13 out of 18 Android phones stopped supporting version updates before or shortly after they were withdrawn from the market;

– 15 of the 18 Android phones were running something new than Gingerbread (Android 2.3), which was released in December 2010

– At least 16 of these 18 phones do not run Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).

-All models sold by Apple can be upgraded to the latest version of the operating system. Apple also provides more than two years of version update support for the iPhone and iPhone 3G, which have been withdrawn from the market.
