Keep a scientific and rational view, food additives are not equal to illegal additives

The use of food additives improves product quality, enriches food categories, and meets consumers' diversified food consumption needs. Without food additives, there would be no modern food industry. In accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety Law, my country has established a series of food additive management systems.

Before listing

Implement a strict approval system for food additives;

During production

Implement a production licensing system for food additive manufacturers;

When using

A food safety risk assessment system for food additives has been established, and more than 700 mandatory national food safety standards have been formulated, covering food additive usage regulations, product requirements, production specifications, labeling, and inspection methods.

In addition, requirements for the production, operation and use of food additives and corresponding supervision and management systems, as well as import and export management systems for food additives have been established.

Food additives are safe when used legally.

So far, none of the food safety incidents that have caused harm to human health in China have been caused by the legal use of food additives. The illegal acts of "two excesses and one non-existence", such as using food additives beyond the scope and limit and adding non-food substances, are the cause of food safety problems. In the "melamine" milk powder incident, melamine was not a food additive! In the "Sudan Red Duck Egg" incident, Sudan Red was not a food additive! In the "toxic duck blood" incident, formalin was not a food additive! It is an illegal additive for food. China's "Food Safety Law" explicitly prohibits the production and operation of foods that use food additives beyond the scope and limit; foods produced with non-food raw materials or foods that add chemical substances other than food additives and other substances that may endanger human health. Food additives are completely different from illegal additives. Consumers do not have to deliberately avoid food additives, but should look at them scientifically and rationally. In order to further crack down on the illegal addition of non-food substances and the abuse of food additives in food production, sales and catering services, a series of special rectifications have been carried out nationwide. Over the past ten years, six batches of "Lists of Non-food Substances that May Be Illegally Added to Foods and Food Additives that Are Easily Abused" have been released successively. Currently, the relevant lists are being further improved to ensure consumers' "food safety".
