comScore: Google+ had 67 million global visitors in November 2011

The latest data released by comScore on January 5, 2012 showed that the number of visitors to Google+, Google's social network, in the UK reached 2.6 million in November last year. This is the first traffic report for the UK market since Google+ opened for registration last September.

Data shows that in November last year, Google+ had 67 million visitors worldwide. In the three weeks after Google+ opened its invitation registration in July last year, the number of visitors was 20 million. According to comScore data, in November last year, Google+ had 14.7 million visitors in the United States, and the TV ads Google put on Google+ brought great help.

Experian Hitwise data released earlier showed that Google+ had nearly 50 million visits in the United States in December last year, up from 30 million in the previous month. Google promoted Google+ heavily during the Christmas season, while Google+ competitors Facebook and Twitter also launched a series of new features. Google redesigned its homepage in September last year to highlight the Google+ service.

According to comScore, the number of visitors to Google+ in the UK tripled between September and November last year. Although Google+'s users are still mainly from the United States, the data shows that Google+ is gradually gaining popularity in Europe.

Mike Read, general manager of comScore Europe, said: "Europe is currently the main source of Google+ users. In November last year, 6.1% of European Internet users visited the Google+ website. The UK is one of the countries with the largest number of Google+ users in Europe, with nearly 2.6 million visitors in November, a penetration rate of 6.9%. "

However, if the total number of Internet users is taken into account, the country with the highest Google+ penetration rate is Canada, where Google+ users account for 9% of the total number of Internet users. France, the United States and Spain rank 2nd to 4th respectively.

"Google+ has grown rapidly since its launch," Reed said. "Google is promoting Google+ across its services, such as Google Search and YouTube. It will be interesting to see whether this move will accelerate the growth of Google+."

India ranked second with 4.3 million Google+ visitors in November, followed by Brazil, Germany and France.
