Chutian Metropolis Daily Jimu News (Reporter Liao Shiqi, Correspondent Pei Nishang) Ms. Zhang, 44, who lives in Jingzhou, has been suffering from eye diseases for more than half a year and has been "in tears all the time". Yesterday, Jimu News reporters learned that through surgery, she was finally relieved of her pain.

At the beginning of this year, Ms. Zhang's right eye suddenly started to tear. At first, Ms. Zhang didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was because of the cold weather. But as the temperature warmed up, Ms. Zhang's symptoms did not improve at all. She had no choice but to go to a local clinic to get medicine, but after taking the medicine, her condition did not improve. As the disease progressed, Ms. Zhang's right eye also had purulent secretions.

Last week, Ms. Zhang came to the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University for treatment. After seeing her, Zhang Jiang, director of the hospital's tear duct/eye and nose-related specialist department, said that Ms. Zhang was suffering from chronic dacryocystitis and needed surgery.

Zhang Jiang said that chronic dacryocystitis is a common lacrimal duct disease. Due to the obstruction or stenosis of the nasolacrimal duct, tears will not stop flowing. When the lacrimal sac is squeezed with fingers, mucus or mucopurulent secretions will flow out. The disease can occur at any age, and it is more common in middle-aged and elderly women. Many patients think that it does not affect their lives and do not care about it. However, if dacryocystitis is not treated in time or treated improperly, it is easy to cause other eye diseases, such as repeated attacks of conjunctivitis and keratitis. In severe cases, corneal ulcers, perforations and endophthalmitis may even occur.

Recently, Ms. Zhang's tearing and increased secretions were resolved through endoscopic lacrimal cystonasal anastomosis on her right eye. Zhang Jiang reminded that if you have symptoms such as tearing, excessive eye mucus, redness and swelling of the eyes, you should go to the hospital in time. Summer is the most suitable season for treating tear duct diseases. Don't wait until the tearing worsens in winter before seeking treatment.
