Diarrhea is a common disease in summer. Many people ask Huazi what to do when they have diarrhea. Regardless of gender, age or young, Huazi recommends using montmorillonite powder. Because montmorillonite is a drug with definite efficacy and no obvious toxic side effects, it has a good antidiarrheal effect on various types of diarrhea. However, when using montmorillonite powder, you should pay attention to the interaction with other drugs. When using it in combination with antibiotics and probiotics, pay attention to the order and interval of medication to avoid irrational use of drugs that may lead to decreased efficacy. 1. Highly safe montmorillonite Montmorillonite got its name because it was first discovered in Montmorillonite, France. It is a silicate clay mineral with a layered structure and flaky crystals. More people are familiar with another name for montmorillonite, called "Guanyin soil". The layered structure of montmorillonite determines its huge surface area. 3g of montmorillonite powder can almost cover the entire digestive tract of an adult, and it can last for more than 6 hours. After montmorillonite covers the digestive tract mucosa, it can enhance the defense function of the mucosal barrier against attacking factors, promote the self-repair of the digestive tract mucosa, balance the normal flora and relieve local pain. Montmorillonite has stable properties. After taking it, it only works in the intestines. It will not enter the blood, will not affect liver and kidney function, and will not affect the fetus or milk secretion. Therefore, montmorillonite is very safe and can be taken by the elderly, pregnant women, and children. 2. Note that there are many reasons why montmorillonite combined with drugs can cause diarrhea. During treatment, montmorillonite only solves the surface symptoms, while eliminating the cause requires combined use with other drugs. Different drugs have different usage orders and intervals. 1. Quinolone antibiotics (various types of "xacin") Quinolone antibiotics are the most commonly used antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial diarrhea, such as norfloxacin, levofloxacin, etc. After covering the digestive tract mucosa, montmorillonite can not only adsorb pathogenic microorganisms and various toxins, but also adsorb drugs, which will affect the efficacy of the drugs. Therefore, "Saxing" should be taken first, and then montmorillonite should be taken 2 hours later. At this time, "Saxing" has basically been absorbed to achieve the maximum effect and is least affected by montmorillonite. 2. Oral berberine and gentamicin Berberine and gentamicin can also treat bacterial diarrhea after oral administration. The two drugs are rarely absorbed after oral administration and maintain high concentrations in the intestine to exert their effects. Montmorillonite has a very high adsorption rate for both drugs, and taking them at the same time will greatly reduce the antibacterial effect. Therefore, when montmorillonite is used in combination with berberine and gentamicin, the interval should be more than 6 hours. For example, if you take montmorillonite first to relieve diarrhea symptoms, you have to take berberine or gentamicin 6 hours later to maximize the latter's antibacterial effect. 3. Macrolide antibiotics Commonly used macrolide antibiotics include erythromycin, roxithromycin, azithromycin, etc. This type of antibiotic has a characteristic that it can undergo "enterohepatic circulation". This means that after the drug is absorbed by the intestine, it enters the liver through the portal vein, is then secreted into the bile by the liver, and is re-excreted into the intestine and absorbed again. This process is repeated, and a high concentration of the drug level can be maintained for a long time. After taking montmorillonite, a large amount of macrolide antibiotics excreted from the bile into the intestine will be adsorbed, blocking the enterohepatic circulation of the drug, thereby significantly reducing the blood drug concentration level. Therefore, the combined use of macrolide antibiotics and montmorillonite should be avoided as much as possible. 4. Probiotics When chronic diarrhea occurs for a long time, there may be intestinal flora disorder, and probiotics are needed to regulate the balance of intestinal flora. When taking the medicine, it is recommended to take montmorillonite first, and then take probiotics 2 hours later. In this way, montmorillonite can be used to absorb harmful bacteria in the intestine first, thereby improving the effect of probiotics. When using "Shaxing", montmorillonite and probiotics at the same time, you can take "Shaxing" first to kill a wave of harmful bacteria; take montmorillonite 2 hours later to absorb a round of harmful bacteria; take probiotics 2 hours later to rebuild the balance of intestinal microecology and achieve maximum drug efficacy. 3. Precautions for taking montmorillonite: Take on an empty stomach: Montmorillonite cannot be taken with food to avoid adsorption on food and reduce the efficacy. Fasting is also required within 2 hours after taking it. Do not take an overdose: One bag (3g) per dose for adults can cover the entire digestive tract mucosa. The first dose can be doubled for the treatment of acute diarrhea. Do not take an overdose, otherwise it may cause adverse reactions such as constipation, intestinal obstruction, and fecal lumps leading to anal fissures. When the diarrhea symptoms are alleviated, the drug can be stopped. No need to drink too much water when taking the medicine: when taking the medicine, add 1 bag of montmorillonite to 50ml of water. It is not recommended to take the medicine with a large amount of water to avoid the local concentration of the medicine being too low and causing the digestive tract to move too fast, so that the montmorillonite cannot cover the entire mucosa. In summary, montmorillonite is a commonly used drug for the treatment of diarrhea. It is stable, will not be absorbed, and is very safe. However, when using the drug, you need to pay attention to the interaction with other drugs, master the correct method of taking the drug, and do not overdose. If you have any questions about the use of the drug, consult a doctor or pharmacist. I am pharmacist Huazi, welcome to follow me and share more health knowledge. |
