What are cervical cancer and HPV? A must read! (Part 1)

In recent years, society has paid more and more attention to women's health, and the prevention and control of cervical cancer has also received high attention.

In the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer, China currently faces problems such as low vaccination rates, insufficient awareness of prevention, and untimely treatment after diagnosis.

The main causes of cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors in women worldwide. In my country, the incidence of cervical cancer ranks third among malignant tumors in women aged 15 to 44.

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the main cause of cervical cancer.

What are the early signs of cervical cancer?

Contact bleeding:

Vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse or after a gynecological examination.

Abnormal vaginal bleeding:

Vaginal bleeding occurs during non-menstrual periods, or the menstrual period is prolonged and the menstrual flow is increased. Elderly patients often have irregular vaginal bleeding after menopause.

The amount of bleeding varies depending on the size of the lesion and the extent of invasion of interstitial blood vessels. If large blood vessels are eroded, massive bleeding may occur.

Abnormal vaginal discharge:

Leucorrhea may be bloody, rice-water-like, watery, smelly, and abundant. In late-stage patients, due to necrosis of cancerous tissue and infection, there may be a large amount of rice-water-like or purulent leucorrhea.

In addition, late-stage patients may also experience frequent urination, urgency, constipation, swelling and pain in the lower limbs, etc.
