Is shivering after urinating a sign of kidney deficiency?

When you finally release your urine after holding it in for a while, you will suddenly shiver, just like shivering in the cold winter. This phenomenon is often called "kidney deficiency" by some quack (or non-quack) doctors and "miracle doctors" selling medicine on the street: it must be treated quickly, otherwise it will become more and more serious, and at the least it will cause impotence, and at the worst it will cause death.

After being yelled at by these "great gods", many people recalled that they had indeed experienced this phenomenon several times, but they did not pay attention at the time and did not expect it to be so harmful. So they were lucky to have met a good person, otherwise the consequences would be disastrous. In order to be healthy, they spent a lot of money to buy a lot of medicine to nourish yin and strengthen yang, hoping that their vigor would always be there.

The result is that I took a lot of medicines for swelling and poisoning, but they didn't work. The more I took, the weaker my kidneys became. Because these quack doctors' messy "medicines" have no guarantee, many of them are liver and kidney toxins. All kinds of toxins in the human body must be excreted through the liver and kidneys. How can I not damage my liver and kidneys if I take these every day? These are charlatans in the first place. If you are deceived by such swindlers, of course you can only end up losing both your money and your life.

So, what exactly is the cause of shivering after urinating?

In fact, this situation is completely normal. This is because when you urinate, the bladder relaxes all of a sudden, and the urine takes away the body's heat. The urethra is stimulated, which reduces the heat, and the conditioned reflex is naturally to shiver. This situation is very common, but urinating is a bit private, and the shiver will pass quickly and there is no discomfort, so no one cares, and there is no need to tell everyone about it.

The charlatans took advantage of this fact, which is very common. They would make this the main point when they set up stalls to sell medicine. The speaker has a good intention, and the listener has a good intention. Some people were reminded of this and thought it was so serious. Some people were deceived. Not everyone will be deceived. As long as one or two listeners believe it, he will make a fortune.

The shivering phenomenon usually occurs when you hold your urine for a long time and suddenly relax to empty it. The temperature of the urethra is generally lower than that of urine. When the slightly higher temperature urine suddenly flows through the lower temperature urethra, it stimulates the rich nerves around the urethra and causes excitement. In addition, the originally full bladder suddenly relaxes, and the urine takes away the body's heat, causing the constant temperature of the human body to suddenly cool down locally. These combined factors will cause a shivering.

Shivering suddenly is the body's self-protection mechanism.

The human body has many unconscious and subconscious self-regulatory functions, such as breathing rate, blood pressure, heart rate, and shivering when frightened. These do not require our conscious actions. The body will automatically adjust in a specific environment. Shivering is also one of these functions. Its most important role is to keep the body warm. The body unconsciously makes this reaction in the cold. It is an unconscious action of the human system to keep itself warm.

A team led by Cazzullo Nakamura, a researcher at Oregon Health & Science University, studied this phenomenon and found a tremor sensory pathway in the skin of mice to the brain. They called this pathway the lateral parabrachial nucleus. It's a bit like the brain's wiring system. When the skin feels cold, this pathway transmits signals to the brain, which then decides whether to shiver and issues commands.

During the urination process, urine suddenly takes away body heat, causing the body's constant temperature to be disrupted, which triggers the brain's perception of cold and body temperature protection mechanism, commanding the muscles to shiver, contracting the skin (goose bumps) to prevent heat from dissipating, and contracting skeletal muscles to generate heat to make up for the lost heat and ensure the body's constant temperature.

Swindlers often take advantage of normal phenomena in people's daily lives to cheat people. If you want to avoid being cheated, you should learn more about scientific life common sense and don't listen to those rumors. Scientific life will make you happier and more open-minded.
