Sudden dizziness, headache, limb weakness, and inability to speak, beware of this rare disease

If you suddenly feel dizzy, have a headache, and feel weak in your limbs and can't speak, it's probably caused by moyamoya disease! Moyamoya disease is a chronic progressive cerebrovascular occlusive disease of unknown etiology, mainly manifested by unilateral or bilateral stenosis or occlusion of the distal middle cerebral artery and the proximal anterior cerebral artery of the internal carotid artery, accompanied by the formation of smoke-like and small blood vessels at the base of the brain and the pia mater. It was first discovered by the Japanese. Because the abnormal small blood vessels shown in cerebral angiography resemble smoke, it was named after the shape and called moyamoya disease. It has nothing to do with smoking. (As shown below) Although moyamoya disease was discovered in Japan, it is more common in China and South Korea, about 100,000/3. The incidence rate is higher with a family history, which is 42 times that of normal people.

The clinical manifestations of moyamoya disease vary, including cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, transient ischemic attack, dizziness, headache, epilepsy, etc., among which stroke accounts for the majority. In general, the first onset of the disease is a transient ischemic attack, which is often not taken seriously. The symptoms may have disappeared when the patient sees a doctor, but do not take it lightly. The first symptom onset means that the subsequent attacks will become more and more severe. There are also some symptoms such as sensory attacks, headaches and visual impairment. TIA attacks are often related to excessive tension, crying, stressful emotional reactions, strenuous exercise, eating, excessive cold or overheating.

Brain hemorrhage is the first symptom. The blood vessel wall of adults is in poor condition. This situation is common in adults. Due to different development of the disease, it can be intraventricular hemorrhage or subarachnoid hemorrhage. The amount of bleeding is generally more than 20ml. Sometimes, because the bleeding site is close to important structures, the patient may be accompanied by severe neurological dysfunction and impaired consciousness.

As a relatively rare disease, many patients will become very nervous and afraid when they learn that they have moyamoya disease, and they will have trouble sleeping and eating. But what I want to tell you is that as long as they actively cooperate with the treatment, most patients will be able to resume normal life.
