Why does the car chassis leak oil? How to check the car chassis oil leakage

The chassis of a car can be said to bear all the parts of the car body, which will affect the overall shape of the car, and at the same time protect the various parts in the car body. There is a hole in the chassis of a car for draining water or oil, but sometimes you have to be careful that it may be an oil leak.

Why does the car chassis leak oil?

If there is oil leakage from the drain screw, it is likely caused by a poor seal of the drain screw gasket. Under normal circumstances, when changing the engine oil, the gasket needs to be replaced according to the situation. If there is no oil leakage, it does not need to be replaced. If there is an oil leakage problem, the gasket must be replaced. Another is oil pan leakage, which usually causes oil stains on the entire oil pan.

There is also the oil seal before the curve or the oil seal after the curve. The oil stains before the curve generally appear under the engine pulley, and after the curve generally appear at the connection between the engine and the gearbox.

Another common problem is oil leakage from the gearbox half-shaft oil seal, which occurs on the gearbox differential.

How to check oil leakage from automobile chassis

First, make sure if there has been any engine oil leakage here before. If there has been no leakage before, pay attention to the following points.

The threads of the oil pan drain bolt are usually welded to the oil pan. There may be defects in the welding of the weld, and the oil pan bolt may be scratched when the engine oil is changed many times or when driving on bad roads. The weld cracks and penetration cause leakage, or the oil pan is scratched and cracked near the bolt, causing leakage.

If the thread is not aligned when changing the oil, it will leak even if it is tightened by force. If the bolt is changed and the oil is forgotten to be tightened, this situation has been encountered in many repairs. Sometimes, sometimes even forget to add oil to the screw, and the bottom will leak.

Another possibility is that the copper gasket of the oil drain bolt is damaged.

After the engine oil is replaced, the oil filter must be replaced as well. During installation, the sealing ring is not installed in place, the oil filter is damaged during the tightening process, due to the quality of the oil filter, the oil filter seat is twisted open with too much force during the tightening process, etc., which will cause oil leakage.

First, find a piece of cloth or toilet paper to clean the leaking area. Start the engine to preheat the oil, and then you can check where the leak is. After the repair, don't forget to check again to see if there is enough oil.

Why is there a hole in the chassis fuel tank?

This hole in the chassis fuel tank is used to drain water and oil. When there is no oil, the tank is full of air, and it is used to exhaust air so that the tank can be filled with oil. It can also be used to drain water and overflow gasoline when washing the car. When the temperature changes, the volume and pressure of the gasoline change, and it needs to be connected to the air to balance the pressure inside and outside the tank.
