Will cat flu recur after being cured? Why are pet cats more likely to get cat flu?

Feline rhinorrhoea is one of the common diseases of cats, especially for young cats, the mortality rate is very high, and it must be treated in time. Early treatment will be easier to cure, but after recovery, you still need to pay attention to improving the immunity of cats and regularly vaccinate them, because it is easy to relapse.

Will cat flu recur after being cured?

It will still relapse.

Because sick cats carry pathogens for life. The virus will hide in the cat's nervous tissue, and when the cat becomes less healthy and its immunity decreases, it will get sick again. Therefore, in order to treat cat diseases, it is necessary to improve immunity and avoid reinfection with the virus.

Feline rhinotracheitis is highly contagious, mainly in kittens. Adult cats will show symptoms of conjunctivitis. There is currently no drug that can kill this herpes virus. Unlike the common cold, feline distemper can be cured, so the host can carry the virus for life, and the possibility of recurrence is also very high. Pay attention to strengthening resistance, take lysine regularly, and get vaccinated every year to prevent recurrence of feline rhinotracheitis.

Why are pet cats more susceptible to feline flu?

Most cats carry herpes virus and calicivirus. Although most cats carry the virus, they do not have symptoms, which means they are not sick. Once these cats are stressed and their resistance is reduced, they will suffer from feline rhinotracheitis.

Therefore, the most likely reason why cats suffer from rhinorrhoea is a decrease in immunity.

How to tell if a cat has feline flu

To identify feline rhinotracheitis, look at the cat's abnormal symptoms: frequent sneezing, pus-like nasal discharge, accompanied by fever, cough, fear of light, tearing; poor spirits, not eating, weight loss; tearing of the eyes resulting in crystallization of purulent secretions, etc., it can be judged that the cat is likely to suffer from feline rhinotracheitis.

The most accurate laboratory method for clinical diagnosis is through PCR. Secondly, some fluorescent reagent tests can also diagnose cat rhinitis. After diagnosis, symptomatic treatment is adopted.

Can feline rhinotracheitis be transmitted to humans?

Feline rhinotracheitis is not contagious to humans.

Feline rhinorrhoea is caused by the feline herpes virus, which is usually caused by a lack of lysine or resistance in cats. Humans can synthesize lysine in their bodies, so they will not be infected by the virus. Common comorbidities between cats and humans include: rabies, cat moss, parasitic infections, and cat fever. Generally, as long as you pay attention to deworming and regular vaccinations, you can prevent it.
