Can the car idle speed be adjusted? How to adjust the car idle speed down?

Idle speed refers to the working condition of the car engine when it is idling. The speed at this time is the idle speed. The idle speed of the car can be high or low. If it is too high, it will consume a lot of fuel, increase the temperature of the engine, and increase the wear of the machine. So can the idle speed of the car be adjusted? How to adjust the idle speed if it is high?

Can the car idle speed be adjusted?

The idle speed of the cable-type throttle can be adjusted, but the electronic throttle cannot be adjusted. If the idle speed is unstable, it is recommended to clean the throttle first to see if it can solve the problem. Most new cars now have electronic throttles, and the throttle cannot be adjusted manually. Even if you disassemble the throttle and adjust it manually, there is a high probability that the idle speed will be unstable!

Of course, there are still many old cars that have cable-operated throttles, which are mechanical. Such throttles can be adjusted.

If you think that the idle speed is too high and wastes fuel, you can clean the carbon deposits on the throttle. It is not recommended to adjust the idle speed yourself. The manufacturer has very careful considerations before the tuning of a car comes out. You think that lowering the idle speed can save fuel, and the manufacturer naturally knows this, but why does he directly lower the idle speed when he comes out?

So don't change the vehicle's idle speed easily. If you think a low idle speed can save fuel, other unpredictable problems may occur.

How to adjust the car's high idle speed

If the idle speed is too high, you need to find out why it is high. This is mainly because the engine takes in too much air when idling or the control signal is abnormal. Many of them are caused by air leakage. You can use a rag to cover the throttle valve. If the idle speed does not stall, it means there is an air leakage and you need to find the leak and repair it.

Air leakage is often a problem with the vacuum tube, which can usually be solved by replacing the vacuum tube. At the same time, pay attention to whether there is a fault code and take it to a repair shop to read it on a computer and prescribe the right remedy.

Common problems include intake air temperature sensor problems, water temperature sensor problems, pressure sensor, throttle position sensor, fuel injector, etc. If the throttle is carbonized, the idle speed will also increase, or the stepper valve may not be closed tightly.

What is the problem of high idling speed of the car?

The main reasons for high idle speed are excessive air intake or incorrect engine control signal. The reasons for high idle speed are intake temperature sensor failure, water temperature sensor failure, throttle position sensor failure, air flow meter or intake manifold absolute pressure sensor failure, switch signal failure, idle control valve failure, throttle body failure, injector failure, vacuum leakage, engine control unit failure or supporting problems, etc.

Recently, 11 ministries and commissions including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Science and Technology jointly issued the "Intelligent Vehicle Innovation and Development Strategy". From the draft for public comments issued by the National Development and Reform Commission in January 2018 to its official release in February 2020, this top-level strategy took two years to complete, which is enough to show China's ambition to build a strong country in intelligent vehicles, which will make intelligent vehicles a new industry blue ocean.
