Lovebirds are not afraid of the cold in winter, but you cannot take them outside in winter, otherwise they will easily catch a cold and have diarrhea. As long as the indoor temperature is not below zero, they are generally fine. The indoor temperature is 5℃ and there is no need to keep them warm deliberately, just take good measures. Lovebirds are love birds, and a male and a female can breed when the temperature is above 15℃.

It is actually OK if the temperature is below 15 degrees, but it will consume more energy to maintain the body temperature, and it is easy to catch a cold and get sick at such a temperature. In addition, it is difficult to recover from the severe physical exhaustion, so it is best to keep the ambient temperature above 20 degrees. It doesn't matter in summer, but it is best not to breed and pay attention to ventilation. In winter, it is best to place it near the heater.

How do lovebirds spend the winter?

1. To keep warm and windproof, close the indoor doors and windows. When the temperature is higher than 10 degrees at noon, you can open the windows for ventilation for an hour or two. Do not take it out, but put it in a sunny place to bask in the sun.

2. Increase the intake of oily grains in food. You can use oily feeds such as flower seeds, flax seeds, rapeseed, etc. You can also make eggs and millet yourself. But don't eat too much, as eating too much will affect reproduction.

3. When drinking water, boiled water can be mixed with electrolytes, glucose and other health care products.

4. In terms of sanitary environment, change the tray frequently to clean the feces. If the temperature outside is below zero, cover the cage with some old clothes or plastic film.

5. You can install a wooden breeding box so that the parrot can go in to keep warm when it is cold.

How to distinguish between male and female lovebirds

First: look at the tail. V-shaped is male, W or fan-shaped is female.

Second: look at the body. The ones with slightly larger bodies are generally females, and vice versa.

Third: Look at the shape of the head. If the head is big and round, it is a female. If the head is small and pointed, and the eyes are close to the top of the head, it is a male.

Fourth: Touch the opening of the breeding cavity, which is suitable for peonies over 6 months old. If the finger can be pressed into the breeding cavity (about the size of a peanut), it is a female, otherwise it is a male.
