Can freesia be hydroponically cultivated? How to hydroponically cultivate freesia to make it survive easily?

Freesia is one of the must-have flowers for many flower lovers because of its elegant flowers and rich fragrance. So can freesia be hydroponically cultivated? How to hydroponically cultivate freesia to make it survive? The following editor will explain them one by one, hoping to help you.

Can freesia be grown hydroponically?

In theory, most plants can be hydroponically grown. This is only theoretically possible, but in practice, many plants may not be successful. For example, plants of the woody family, which are highly lignified, are relatively difficult to convert to hydroponics. Whether freesia can be hydroponically grown is certain, and it can be considered a relatively easy plant to be hydroponically grown.

How to make freesia survive in hydroponics

First of all, before hydroponics, we still need to disinfect the bulbs. The disinfectant you choose can be a drug such as black and white disease, which is mainly aimed at bacteria and fungi. Then put the freesia bulbs into the disinfectant mixed with the drug and soak them for about 10 to 15 minutes for disinfection. After disinfection, carry out regular hydroponic operations.

Then use a hydroponic basket, put the freesia bulbs in, and fix them with stones between the bulbs. When adding water, do not completely cover the bulbs, but add it to about half of the bulbs.

When adding water, be careful not to use tap water directly, because tap water contains relatively high chlorine and inorganic salt components, which are not conducive to plant growth.

After about ten days and a half month of cultivation, the bulb will grow a kind of aquatic root, which is different from the original soil root, and it is a thinner root.

How to care for freesia

1. Change the water once a week. If it is tap water, it should be left in the house for a period of time before use.

2. After each water change, add a few drops of nutrient solution to the water. Water and nutrient solution are basically all that is needed for the life of hydroponic freesia, so they should be replenished in time.

3. After the bulbs grow tender green buds, place the plants in the sun to increase the chlorophyll in the leaves and ensure that the new leaves are tender green and shiny.

4. When changing the water for the first time, use pressurized water to clean the bottom of the bottle and trim the roots, cutting off unhealthy or even rotten roots.

5. When the plant grows luxuriantly, in order to promote its flowering, you can add a small amount of potassium dihydrogen phosphate to the water.
