Can you fish in a river with fast currents? How to fish in a river with fast currents?

It may be that the "textbook" platform fishing method limits the imagination of many anglers. Because the standard platform fishing method, that is, the hanging fishing method, is actually only suitable for fishing in a fish pond without wind and waves. Wild fishing in flowing water, even if using a platform fishing line group, also needs to be improved. So, how to fish in a river with a very fast current? Let's take a look!

Can I fish in fast-flowing water?

The answer is yes, nothing can stump a thoughtful angler!

In many natural waters, such as rivers and streams, the water is often flowing with precipitation or the melting of ice and snow in the upper reaches in summer. This brings great difficulties to anglers who like wild fishing but lack resources. First, the bait for making nests will be washed away by the running water, making it difficult to gather nests. Secondly, the line group will drift with the current, making it difficult for fish to eat bait and the floating image cannot be displayed on the float.

How to fish in a fast-flowing river

Method 1: Work on the lead to fight against the slow water flow

This is the simplest and most direct way to fight against the water flow. In the flowing water, the float and the hook bait underwater will be carried away from the fishing point by the flowing water. In order to restrain the line group, use the heavy lead (lead intake of 5g or more) fishing method. The specific operation is very simple. Increase the lead weight and let it lie diagonally on the bottom. Match it with a float with a slightly larger weight. The heavier float has better stability in the water. In this way, the lead weight can ensure that the hook bait remains in place. Although it is tilted underwater, the float has a higher mesh number and will not sink completely. In addition to this method, many anglers also mentioned running lead and double lead fishing methods, which are similar in principle and will not be elaborated here.

Method 2: No-float fishing, similar to fishing for crayfish or sea rod string hook

For very fast currents, it is impossible to control them with the lead sinker, so we simply throw away the float and use the no-float fishing method. In this case, it is best to choose bait with good hook attachment, without the float, fix the fishing rod, and understand the fish eating the bait in two ways. The first is to touch the fishing rod with your hand to feel the movement on the fishing rod, and the second is to observe the fishing line and the tip of the rod to see if they are tight or bent. Don't underestimate this method. It is difficult for fish to eat bait in flowing water, and fish in natural waters are more active and eat bait fiercely, and often encounter "real bites".

Method 3: Find the right fishing spot, this is the fish nest

When the water flow is too fast, fish are in an active state against the water flow, which consumes a lot of physical energy, makes it difficult to eat, and has a great demand for food. As long as you find a fishing spot with a slower water flow, it is a place for fish to rest and forage. It is easy to find a fishing spot where the river surface suddenly widens and the water flow slows down relatively. In addition, the backwater bay of the river can be called an excellent fishing spot, where underwater food is deposited and the water is basically in a static state, which can completely avoid the influence of the water flow.

How to make bait when the water flow is too fast

Leaving aside the live bait, fishing for mandarin fish with earthworms and shrimps is not discussed here. The bait shared here is for grass bream. 30% Big Mac + 30% 918 Field + 30% No. 1 Snail Carp + 10% Corn Sticky Powder. The bait-water ratio is 1:0.5. The bait is just wet, like a loose cannon, but it needs to be pinched together when hooked. If it can't be pinched together, add some sticky powder. Don't add too much water. If it's too thin, it won't last on the hook for three minutes. This hard and sticky bait ball, rubbed as big as a finger, will fall off layer by layer like lime peeling off the wall when washed by water in the running water, playing a fish-attracting effect.
