How to plant Polygonum multiflorum in winter

Site selection and land preparation

It can be planted in woodlands, hillsides, and in front of and behind houses. Choose well-drained, loose and fertile sandy soil. Apply base fertilizer when preparing the land, deep plow the land, harrow it and level it, and make high ridges. The size of the ridge depends on the terrain, and the width is generally 130 cm.

Reproduction method

Direct seeding method, 3~4 sowing, row spacing of 30~35 cm, apply human and animal manure water, sow the seeds in the ditch, cover the soil by about 3 cm. When the seedlings are 5 cm tall, start thinning, with a spacing of 25~30 cm between seedlings. Seedling transplanting method, this method has been proven to be not only labor-intensive and time-consuming, but also not as high as direct seeding, and has been basically eliminated. Cutting propagation method, from early March to early April, select vines of vigorous, strong and pest-free plants, cut them into cuttings about 25 cm long. Leave 2~3 buds on each cutting. The row spacing is 30~35 cm, the plant spacing is 30 cm, and the hole depth is 20 cm. Put 2~3 cuttings in each hole, and note that the cuttings cannot be inverted. Finally, cover the soil and press it tightly, and water it enough to establish roots.

Field management

The field should be kept moist during sowing or cutting, and attention should be paid to weeding during growth. In May, human and animal manure should be applied once. At this time, the seedlings are about 30 cm tall, and a frame should be built for the vines to climb and wrap around. In December, when the seedlings are turned over, the dead vines should be removed, and sufficient decomposed compost or soil fertilizer should be applied once, and soil should be added at the roots, and finally the garden should be cleaned.

Pests and their control

Leaf spot disease often occurs in summer. In the early stage of the disease, spray 1:1:120 Bordeaux mixture or 3% Jinggangmycin once every seven days for three consecutive times. Aphids harm stems and leaves, so spray imidacloprid and pymetrozine during the outbreak period. You can also spray alternately, with a spray interval of fifteen days, and spray 2 to 3 times in a row.

When to harvest Polygonum multiflorum seeds

Can the seedlings of Polygonum multiflorum be eaten?

Although the young seedlings of Polygonum multiflorum are good, not everyone can eat them.
