Could chronic diarrhea be caused by colon cancer? How can I treat chronic diarrhea?

Diarrhea is a very common symptom. You will have diarrhea if you catch a cold or eat something unclean. But if you have diarrhea frequently, you need to consider whether there is something wrong with your gastrointestinal tract. The first thing you think of is whether it is colon cancer. So how do you know if diarrhea is caused by colon cancer?

Could chronic diarrhea be a sign of colon cancer?

Long-term diarrhea and chronic diarrhea may be a sign of colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor that can cause gastrointestinal dysfunction, diarrhea or constipation, or even alternating diarrhea and constipation. Therefore, diarrhea is one of the signs of colorectal cancer.

But there are also some other reasons that can cause diarrhea, such as eating irritating food, cold food, ulcerative colitis, etc., which are not necessarily colon cancer.

If you have diarrhea without obvious causes, and it is accompanied by symptoms such as black stools, blood in the stool, constipation, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, weight loss, emaciation, and anemia, you must be alert to the possibility of colorectal cancer.

How to treat chronic diarrhea

Long-term diarrhea will take away a lot of water and nutrients. Eat some foods that can supplement nutrition and stimulate the intestines, such as common cereal foods such as porridge, steamed buns, bread, soft noodles, pasta rice soup, fine lotus root powder, almond powder, etc.

You can choose easily digestible meat foods, such as tender lean meat, chicken, fish, and shrimp, which can be cooked softer; beans include soy milk and tofu; vegetables include low-fiber ones, such as potatoes, pumpkin, winter melon, etc.

You can drink yogurt, eat some coarse grains, and alkaline foods such as kelp on a regular basis.

Causes of diarrhea

1. Eating some cold and irritating foods, foods with high water content (watermelon, tomatoes, peaches, etc.), due to the cold stimulation of the intestines, the intestinal peristalsis is accelerated, and the excessive water in the intestines makes the intestinal mucosa unable to absorb, so it will cause the stool to be diluted and diarrhea.

2. Chronic diarrhea, intermittent attacks every 2 to 4 weeks, more than 3 bowel movements per day, usually caused by intestinal bacterial infection, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and bloody urine, but irritable bowel syndrome does not have substantial lesions, only the frequency of onset has changed, but the symptoms are mainly alternating diarrhea and constipation. Therefore, chronic diarrhea is mainly caused by intestinal inflammation and infection. Stimulation after eating or inflammatory stimulation causes abnormal intestinal function and diarrhea symptoms.
