What foods to eat after cesarean section constipation

Do you have dry and hard stools, bowel movements every two or three days or three to five days, and have a urge to urinate but difficulty defecating? Many new mothers after giving birth encounter similar constipation problems, especially those who are in the confinement period. Survey data show that the proportion of mothers suffering from constipation in the confinement period reaches 40%. Why are new mothers prone to constipation? What are the harms of constipation? And how to improve constipation through diet, exercise, lifestyle and mentality?

What food should a mother with constipation eat? She should eat liquid food for one day after a cesarean section.

A rich and nourishing soup. Sufficient water can increase the moisture content of feces, make feces softer and facilitate defecation, so it is recommended to ensure at least 1200ml of water per day, which is equivalent to 2 bottles of ordinary beverages. It is best to drink warm boiled water in big gulps on an empty stomach in the morning to stimulate gastrointestinal motility. In addition, adding nourishing soup after the secretion of milk becomes regular can not only promote the secretion of milk, but also have the effect of moisturizing. It should be noted that the taste should be as light as possible.

Plenty of vegetables and fruits. In many areas, people believe that fruits and vegetables are cold in nature and should not be eaten during the confinement period, otherwise it will be difficult to recover after childbirth. In fact, fruits and vegetables contain a variety of minerals and water-soluble vitamins. More importantly, they are high in water and dietary fiber. Dietary fiber has the function of absorbing moisture and swelling, increasing the water content and volume of feces, so it is helpful to relieve constipation. It is advisable to eat 1 catty of vegetables and 8 taels of fruits every day. Do not exceed the amount, because excessive dietary fiber will make the stool dry and increase the risk of constipation.

1. In winter, you can blanch fresh fruits with hot water without worrying about their coldness.

2. If you have a poor appetite and cannot ensure 1 jin of vegetables and 8 liang of fruits every day, you can choose products such as water-soluble dietary fiber.

3. Mothers who have undergone cesarean section can eat liquid food for one day after the operation, and then change to a normal diet, with nutritious meals three times a day and ensure to have vegetables and fruits.

4. Patients with third-degree perineal tears and sutures need to follow a low-residue diet for about a week to prevent straining during bowel movements from tearing the wound again. From now on, return to a normal diet. Do not continue to eat less residue for fear of painful bowel movements, otherwise the risk of constipation will increase.

Dinner-sized pairings. Refined white rice and flour have had the bran and starch layers containing dietary fiber removed. Eating them alone will increase the risk of constipation. Therefore, it is recommended to add whole grains such as oatmeal, rye, millet, corn, and red beans to the diet to avoid a rough taste. They can be soaked in advance to make whole grain porridge, or made into steamed buns or noodles with mixed flour.

Boost probiotic powder and prebiotics. Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, etc. are all probiotic powders, which are beneficial to improving intestinal bacteria and relieving constipation. You can choose tablets or capsules, and you can choose probiotic drinks with relatively low energy. Prebiotics are the ingredients of probiotic powders, which are beneficial to the growth and reproduction of probiotic powders in the gastrointestinal tract. You can choose oligoxylose and water-soluble dietary fiber.

Avoid irritating foods. Irritating foods impair intestinal motility and increase defecation pain, making defecation difficult, so you should avoid irritating foods such as chili peppers, ginger, and raw garlic. Mothers who have postpartum constipation must pay attention to their diet! The dietary structure should be effective, and you need to walk more if you are able to get out of bed.
