How to treat fungus in women

The prevalence of candidal vaginitis in women is second only to candidal vaginitis. It is more common in young women, pregnant women, patients with diabetes, and patients who use large amounts of estrogen. Generally speaking, the treatment of candidal vaginitis mainly uses local medicines and oral medicines. So, what should women do if they have candidal vaginitis? Let us explain it in detail below.

What should women do if they have vaginal candidal infection?

1. Partial medication: vaginal administration.

The drug is easily dissolved in the vagina, with little systemic absorption and high safety. Simple candidal vaginitis (non-diabetic, pregnant women, etc.) has relatively mild symptoms. Vaginal suppositories are preferred. It is best to take a shower. For vaginal cleaning, use warm water to wash the private parts. Vaginal tablets are water-soluble and dissolve relatively slowly; intravaginal capsules are fat-soluble and can dissolve at body temperature in 5 minutes, so they are more suitable for middle-aged and elderly women.

2. Oral medication.

If the symptoms are serious, especially the leucorrhea in the form of tofu dregs, erythema and edema of the private parts, often accompanied by scars, chapped skin, peeling of the skin, vaginal erosion, cervical hematoma and other symptoms, it is best to choose oral medication, combined with vaginal suppositories when necessary. However, oral medications for candidal vaginitis have certain digestive system reactions and liver toxicity side effects, and pregnant women are prohibited from using them.

In the early stage of the disease, patients can take fluconazole tablets or local antifungal drugs under the guidance of a doctor, and take the medicine consistently for 2 weeks to a month. After one course of treatment, stop taking the medicine for three days and go to the hospital for a follow-up check of the secretions. If the test data shows that it has turned negative, continue to take fluconazole tablets, itraconazole and other drugs orally, and clotrimazole suppositories as in the early stage of the disease. The treatment period should be continued for 6 months to prevent the recurrence of candidal vaginitis.
