The upper part with a blunt round protrusion, located above the cervical opening of the fallopian tubes on both sides, is the base; the lower part with a narrow and cylindrical shape is the neck, which is a frequent site of inflammation and cancer. The cervix is ​​further divided into the upper end of the vagina and the inside of the vagina. The part between the bottom and the neck is the body; the narrow part between the lower part of the body and the neck is the isthmus. The uterine isthmus gradually expands with the pregnancy, and the lower part of the uterus is obviously formed during delivery. The junction of the upper ends of the two edges of the uterus and the bilateral fallopian tubes is called the uterine angle. The front of the uterus is separated from the bladder by the uterine pouch and is close to the upper bladder. The front of the upper end of the cervix and vagina is close to the lower end of the bladder through the bladder-vaginal septum. The inside of the cervix and vagina is close to the urethral opening through the urethrovaginal septum. The back of the uterus is close to the duodenum through the duodenal pouch and duodeno-vaginal septum.

The uterus is located in the center of the pelvis, between the bladder and duodenum. The uterus of a normal adult non-pregnant woman is in an extended and flexed position. The main positioning device of the uterus is the support of the pelvic diaphragm and vagina and the traction of the cruciate ligament.
