Can I still breastfeed when I'm pregnant?

Having a second child is popular now, so most mothers will get pregnant again after just becoming one. They think that giving birth to two children at once will not only make the babies look similar in age, but most importantly, it will be more convenient to take care of them. However, if a mother has just given birth and is still breastfeeding, whether she can continue breastfeeding if she gets pregnant again at this time has become a concern for many mothers.

So why is it not advisable to breastfeed during pregnancy?

Doctors say that after three months of pregnancy, the amount of milk will decrease significantly, although the mother's milk is still abundant when she is just pregnant. Milk is produced by hormones and reflexes in the female body. After milk is produced, the body will unconsciously inhibit the activity of ovarian eggs, so breastfeeding will delay the onset of menstruation and pregnancy. However, as the pregnancy progresses, progesterone and estrogen levels rise, prolactin levels gradually decrease, and milk supply becomes less and less. If the mother insists on breastfeeding, the baby's nutrition is definitely not enough.

The harm of continuing to breastfeed during breastfeeding

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, first of all, the baby will not get enough nutrition. The milk will gradually decrease, and the baby will not get enough breast milk, which will lead to malnutrition. Therefore, it is better to stop breastfeeding from the beginning and feed the baby milk powder. Secondly, after pregnancy, the mother must provide enough nutrition for the fetus in the belly. If she continues to breastfeed, the mother's body will definitely not be able to bear it and will not be able to provide the nutrition needed by two children, especially in the second trimester, when the fetus grows faster and needs more nutrition. If the pregnant woman does not keep up with the nutrition needed by the fetus, not only will the pregnant woman be weak, but the fetus will also be very fragile. Therefore, it is best not to continue breastfeeding if you become pregnant during breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding period is not equal to safe period

Breastfeeding is not a safe period, so new parents are advised to take contraceptive measures. Many people think that since they will not have menstruation during the postpartum breastfeeding period, they will not get pregnant, so they do not use any contraceptive measures at all, which results in an unexpected pregnancy. In fact, before your menstruation resumes, your ovaries may have already ovulated, and the basic conditions for pregnancy have been met. So don't be superstitious that "breastfeeding is equivalent to contraception". When resuming sexual life after childbirth, it is best to take contraceptive measures.
