The difference between 37-week cesarean section and 38-week cesarean section

For expectant mothers, the body recovery rate after cesarean section is slower than that of natural birth, so mothers after cesarean section must take good care of the confinement period. Some expectant mothers may give birth one or two weeks earlier. So what are the differences between a cesarean section at 37 weeks and a cesarean section at 38 weeks? Let’s follow the editor to find out.

First of all, if a cesarean section is performed at 37 weeks of pregnancy and the baby is already full-term, and if any abnormalities are found during the examination, a cesarean section can be performed during this period. However, if all the examination results of the pregnant woman are normal and the baby is growing and developing healthily, it is best to have a cesarean section when the due date comes.

Secondly, although 37 weeks is full-term, the baby's brain nerves have matured and caesarean section can be performed, but the longer the baby stays in the pregnant mother's body, the stronger the baby's body resistance will be. At 38 weeks, the baby's immune system has basically been established, the development of various organs in the body will be more complete than at 37 weeks, and the baby's resistance will also be slightly improved.

Finally, many hospitals now do not recommend caesarean section. If natural birth is possible or there are no special circumstances, expectant mothers are advised to choose natural birth. Of course, expectant mothers cannot have a cesarean section whenever they want. The actual situation depends on the expectant mother's condition. If all indicators of the pregnant woman are normal and the fetus is full-term, then a cesarean section can be performed.

Under normal circumstances, when a woman is 37 weeks pregnant, the fetus is considered full-term. At this time, if there are any abnormalities in the pregnant woman's body, in order to avoid danger to the fetus, the fetus can be delivered by cesarean section. However, if the pregnant woman can persist, it is best to wait until the baby is 38 weeks old before performing a caesarean section.
