Confirmed pregnancy but no intrauterine echo

Confirmed pregnancy but no intrauterine echo

With the nationwide opening of the second-child policy, many expectant parents have already begun planning to have children. When a woman is pregnant, she can check it out in several ways. The simplest way is to go to the pharmacy to buy an early pregnancy test strip for testing. If you go to the hospital for a physical examination, the success rate will be higher. When you go to the hospital for a physical examination, the only thing that may show that you are pregnant is that there is no echo in the uterine cavity.

What if I am pregnant but there is no echo in the uterine cavity?

If a woman's blood hcg test or urine pregnancy test has confirmed pregnancy, but B-ultrasound finds no echo in the uterine cavity, and no obvious yolk sac or fetal heartbeat or fetal bud, two possibilities should be considered at this time. The first is that because the menopause time is too short, the yolk sac and fetal heart and fetal bud have not grown out yet, so only the absence of echo in the uterine cavity is seen, and this absence of echo in the uterine cavity actually refers to the fetal sac. Generally, during the follow-up ultrasound examination 10 days later, the yolk sac and fetal heart and fetal bud can be seen. Second, for women whose menopause has lasted for more than 60 days, it should be considered that the possibility of an empty gestational sac is relatively high.

Is there no echo in the uterine cavity during pregnancy an ectopic pregnancy?

The absence of echo in the uterine cavity does not mean ectopic pregnancy. Generally, the absence of echo in the uterine cavity indicates an early gestational sac in the uterus, which means the early stage of pregnancy. The yolk sac in the gestational sac is too short for ultrasound to detect. Therefore, the absence of echo in the uterine cavity does not necessarily mean ectopic pregnancy. It is likely to be intrauterine pregnancy, but it cannot be guaranteed to be an intrauterine pregnancy. Therefore, a follow-up visit should be done after one week to check the development of the test tube embryo with color Doppler ultrasound.

In the early stages of ectopic pregnancy, women also experience amenorrhea. Most patients also have amenorrhea for six to eight weeks, but some women do not have an obvious history of amenorrhea. Some may mistake vaginal bleeding for normal menstruation. Ectopic pregnancy can cause abdominal pain, which is caused by the rupture of both fallopian tubes. The lower abdomen will feel tearing-like pain, and there will be irregular bleeding in any location. This symptom is one of the most common causes of ectopic pregnancy. Slight inflammation can cause the space in the lumen of both fallopian tubes to shrink, affecting the peristalsis of the tubes. The sperm and egg combination lack the driving force during migration and may easily stagnate after being blocked. As the inflammation worsens, the environment in the fallopian tubes may become increasingly unsatisfactory, and in severe cases may be completely blocked, leading to ectopic pregnancy or infertility.
