Causes of insomnia in pregnant women

1. Hormone changes: Under the influence of estrogen, pregnant women's mood fluctuates greatly, their nerves are very sensitive, they always get angry over trivial matters, their tolerance to stress will decrease, and the worry about the baby in their belly can easily lead to emotional instability, and thus depression and insomnia often occur.

The effect of hormones can also cause pregnant women to be in an extremely excited state. Before going to bed, they will be full of expectations for the baby, and even constantly guess whether it is a boy or a girl. Their thinking is overactive and it is difficult to fall asleep.

2. Changes in dietary structure: Due to pregnancy reactions and regulations on nutrition and diet, the dietary structure of pregnant women will undergo certain changes. Some pregnant women have a particularly good appetite during pregnancy and often eat too much before going to bed, which affects their gastrointestinal function. I was not feeling well, so of course I couldn’t sleep well.

If pregnant women eat foods containing caffeine and fat before going to bed, such as coffee, tea, fried foods, etc., it will also cause changes in the body's hormone metabolism, causing physical discomfort and leading to insomnia.

3. Pregnancy reactions: During pregnancy, the growing uterus will compress the bladder of the pregnant woman, and the pregnant mother may suffer from frequent urination and urgency, which seriously affects her sleep. Many pregnant women also suffer from leg cramps. Most leg cramps occur during sleep and can easily cause insomnia.
