Postpartum lochia is sticky and long

When women are menstruating, they can judge whether their body is healthy by the changes in their menstrual period. After giving birth, the health of the pregnant woman can also be judged based on the condition of her lochia. So is it normal for postpartum women to have lochia with metal wire drawing?

Postpartum lochia is divided into stubborn lochia, serous lochia and white lochia. It is normal for lochia to have thick wire-like texture, which usually occurs about ten days after giving birth. Generally, strong lochia will appear about 3 to 4 days after giving birth, because at this time the lochia contains a lot of blood, and it is red and large in quantity. However, about ten days after giving birth, serous lochia and milky white lochia will appear. At this time, there will be intrauterine exudate, cervical mucus, and necrotic decidual tissue, epithelial cells, etc. in the lochia. Therefore, thick metallic wire will appear in the lochia.

Although every pregnant woman has postpartum lochia, the amount discharged from each person is different, and the average total output is about 500~1000ml. The duration of lochia discharge varies from pregnant woman to pregnant woman. Normally, it will be clear in about 3 weeks. If the lochia is still dripping for more than 2 months after giving birth, it is considered as unclean lochia. Common causes include uterine infection, the presence of pregnancy products such as embryos, decidua and other tissues left in the uterus, and incomplete uterine reduction.

If a pregnant woman has residual lochia one month after delivery, and is accompanied by a foul or foul odor, or is accompanied by abdominal pain and fever, it may be that there is infection in the vagina, uterus, bilateral fallopian tubes, and ovaries; if the amount of postpartum lochia increases day by day, the color becomes redder and darker day by day, or there are bruises, or there is abnormal uterine bleeding, internal and external vaginal injuries, or infection occurs, etc., and even if the postpartum lochia continues to be residual, it must be taken seriously and go to the hospital for physical examination and treatment in time to ensure the health of the pregnant mother after giving birth.
