The most important items in women's physical examination

Everyone hopes to have a healthy body. Whether the body is in a healthy state cannot be determined until a disease occurs. Regular physical examinations are very important. There are many items in the physical examination. When women have a physical examination, they can choose some more important items for examination. So, what are the most important items in a women’s physical examination? Let’s take a look below.

1. Routine examination of leucorrhea

It can detect vaginitis caused by various bacterial infections.

2. Cervical examination

Observe whether there are any tumors, ulcers, erosions, or polyps on the cervix, whether the cervix is normal in size, whether the surface is smooth, whether the texture is too hard, and whether there is uterine prolapse.

A normal cervix has bulges around the edges and a hole in the middle. The shape of the navel for non-pregnant women is round, while that for pregnant women is "I"-shaped, tough, flesh-red, and has a smooth surface. If you want to do a cervical cancer smear test, your doctor will take a specimen at this time.

3. Examination of the uterus and appendages

Understand the location of the fundus of the uterus, whether it is active, and what its texture is like. If the uterus is enlarged, too hard, or has an uneven surface, these are abnormal phenomena and further examination is required.

The normal uterus is inverted pear-shaped, 7 to 8 cm long, 4 to 5 cm wide, and 2 to 3 cm thick. Most are in an anteversion and anteflexion position, with a medium hardness and good mobility. The ovaries and fallopian tubes are collectively called "appendages". They are movable and feel slightly sore and swollen when touched. Normal fallopian tubes cannot be palpated.

4. Ultrasound examination

Check for diseases such as ovarian tumors, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids.

B-ultrasound can give accurate and timely conclusions to understand the development of the uterus and ovaries, whether the size is normal, whether there are cysts, masses, congenital malformations, the development status of the embryo, etc., laying a good foundation for eugenics.

Patients after childbirth, induced labor, and artificial abortion can learn about the recovery of the uterus, the thickness of the endometrium, and the placement of the IUD, which can assist doctors in diagnosing the condition and help patients recover as soon as possible. Non-pregnant women can understand the development of follicles and ovulation, evaluate reproductive function, and provide a reliable basis for treatment and medication. It can be said that almost all gynecological diseases require the assistance of gynecological B-ultrasound examination.

B-ultrasound can also help to clearly diagnose the following symptoms, such as amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, menstrual disorders, cervical lesions, endometrial lesions, pelvic effusion, lower abdominal pain, lower abdominal mass, vaginal bleeding, pelvic ascites... Even surgical acute abdomen, masses, tumors, etc., also need B-ultrasound for differential diagnosis to avoid misdiagnosis.

5. Colposcopy

This test is usually done when the Pap test results are abnormal. A colposcopy only takes a few minutes and is not painful. Use a 10-40x binocular magnifying glass to directly observe the cervix for signs of cancer. If a suspicious area is found, it can be accurately located for the next step of biopsy.

6. Biopsy

Specimens are usually obtained from the most abnormal parts of the body for examination, including the vulva, vagina, cervix, and endometrium. They are most commonly used for the diagnosis of endometrial cancer and cervical cancer.

7. Breast examination

Regular self-examination and infrared breast examinations, and timely treatment of breast abnormalities once they are discovered, can effectively prevent and treat breast diseases and prevent disease progression and cancer.

8. HPV test

Test for HPV. It is usually performed at the same time as a cancer prevention smear test.
