What causes vulvar itching?

In daily life, the female genital area is quite complex, so it is easy to experience some discomfort, such as burning and itching of the vulva. The strange feeling will seriously affect the life and work of female friends. Therefore, before accepting the necessity, everyone needs to understand what causes vulvar burning and itching, take preventive measures from the cause, reduce the incidence of vulvar burning and itching, and make female friends live a happier and more fulfilling life.

There are many reasons for vulvar burning and itching. Female genital tract inflammation caused by some bacterial infections such as fungal infection and Trichomonas infection is a very common cause. In addition, allergies caused by drug allergies, underwear, soap, etc. can cause this problem. In a small number of patients, it is caused by not paying attention to the cleanliness of the vulva, which leads to stimulation of sebum, sweat glands, menstruation, and female reproductive tract secretions. After the examination, it is necessary to prescribe the right medicine for the disease confirmed by the examination and cure it completely.

Treatment for vulvar itching

1. General treatment: Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, keep the vulva clean and dry, avoid scratching, do not wash with hot water, and avoid using soap. When there is an infection, potassium permanganate solution can be used for a sitz bath, but local scrubbing is strictly prohibited. Clothing, especially underwear, should be loose and breathable. Avoid alcohol and spicy or allergic foods.

2. Etiological treatment: Eliminate local or systemic factors that cause itching, such as trichomoniasis, fungal infection or diabetes.

3. External medication: In case of acute inflammation, you can use 1% levofloxacin plus 1 foil, livanol solution, or 30% boric acid solution for wet compresses. After washing, apply 40% zinc oxide ointment topically. For chronic itching, you can apply corticosteroid ointment or 2% diphenhydramine ointment.

4. Oral medication: When the symptoms are severe, you can take 4mSt of chlorpheniramine, 25mg of diphenhydramine or 25ml of isopropylamine orally to achieve both sedation and desensitization effects.

Precautions for vulvar burning and itching

1. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, change menstrual pads frequently and wash them frequently during menstruation.

2. Keep the vulva clean and dry, do not wash it with hot water or scrub it with soap.

3. Avoid misusing or abusing drugs, scratching or local friction.

4. Avoid alcohol, spicy food, seafood, and medicines that may cause allergies.

5. Do not wear tight crotch pants. Underwear should be loose, breathable, and preferably made of cotton.

6. If there is local damage or infection, soak it in 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution (add a small amount of potassium permanganate powder to warm water to make it light red, not too concentrated) twice a day, each time for 20 to 30 minutes. It is best to see a doctor and follow his advice.
