Why is the amount of menstrual flow so heavy on the second day?

Women have menstruation every month, but some women have heavy menstrual flow, while some women have normal menstrual flow. If the menstrual flow is too much or too little, it is abnormal and needs to be taken seriously. Every woman's physical condition is different, and the amount of menstrual flow is also different. Some women have normal menstrual flow on the first day, but very heavy menstrual flow on the second day. What's going on?

Why is the second day of menstruation so heavy?

If there is a lot of bleeding on the second day of menstruation and you have a history of sexual intercourse, you need to rule out pregnancy first. Vaginal bleeding may be caused by miscarriage. If you are not pregnant and your vaginal bleeding exceeds the normal menstrual volume, you should consider dysfunctional uterine bleeding, which may be increased vaginal bleeding caused by endometrial lesions.

It is recommended to go to the hospital for a uterine B-ultrasound examination. If the amount of bleeding is heavy and reaches anemia, you can consider curettage. On the one hand, it can stop bleeding. On the other hand, the scraped endometrium can be sent for pathological examination to understand whether there is endometrial lesion. Then decide whether to use medication treatment or need surgery based on the pathology report.

What to do if your period is heavy on the second day

1. Keep a happy mood, avoid worry, depression and anger, which can damage the liver and spleen, or excessive emotions, which can turn the five desires into fire and disturb the Chong and Ren meridians, causing menstrual diseases.

2. Add or remove clothes and bedding appropriately according to changes in climate and environment. Avoid keeping the room too cold or too cool to avoid attracting external evil, damaging blood and qi, and causing menstrual diseases.

3. Combine work and rest, and avoid overwork and strenuous exercise, as this can easily damage your spleen and lead to menstrual diseases caused by dysfunction of control or biochemical deficiencies.

4. Pay attention to your diet and eat at regular times and in regular amounts. Avoid overeating or excessive consumption of fatty, greasy, raw, cold, spicy, and dry foods to avoid damaging the spleen and stomach and causing biochemical deficiencies, or accumulation of dampness and phlegm, or cooling or burning blood, which may cause menstrual disorders.

5. Pay attention to birth control and sexual abstinence to prevent diseases, avoid excessive and frequent births (including abortions) and sexual intercourse during menstruation and after childbirth, otherwise it will damage the Chong and Ren meridians, essence and blood, and kidney qi, leading to menstrual diseases.
