Bleeding after IVF

Bleeding after IVF

Ectopic fertilization does not mean that women do not need to bear the responsibility of carrying the embryo. Ectopic fertilization only refers to the combination of sperm and egg outside the human body. However, as the fertilized egg develops, the embryo still needs to be transplanted into the human uterus, which is the so-called test tube transplant. However, many women will experience bleeding after undergoing test tube transplantation. Some expectant mothers have their uterus scraped during the transplantation process, but some are due to unstable embryo implantation.

1. Ectopic pregnancy bleeding

Often 14 days after embryo transfer, when going to the hospital for an HCG blood test to confirm pregnancy, 30% to 50% of expectant mothers may experience a small amount of vaginal bleeding. However, if the amount of bleeding gradually increases and is accompanied by obvious abdominal pain, you should be alert to the possibility of ectopic pregnancy and go to the nearest hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

2. Abortion bleeding

Although intrauterine pregnancy is detected by B-ultrasound examination, 10% to 20% of pregnant women may still have a small amount of dark red or brown vaginal discharge, accompanied by paroxysmal lower abdominal pain, and threatened abortion cannot be ruled out. At this time, you need to rest more, and it is best to go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination.

3. Ectopic pregnancy bleeding

It refers to the implantation of the embryo in tissues outside the uterine cavity. The most common pregnancy is "tubal pregnancy", which is about 2% to 5%. At this time, some pregnant women will have a small amount of vaginal bleeding. If B-ultrasound confirms ectopic pregnancy, regardless of the amount of bleeding, the pregnant woman should be hospitalized immediately for treatment.

4. Bleeding from "biochemical pregnancy abortion"

An ultrasound examination will be performed about 4 weeks after the embryo transfer, mainly to understand the development of the embryo. If no ultrasound or image of the gestational sac is found in the intrauterine and bilateral adnexal areas, a blood test for HCG value will be performed. If the HCG value is significantly lower than the gestational age or even turns negative, it means that "biochemical pregnancy abortion" has occurred. Pregnant women may experience dark red or bright red vaginal bleeding, or even menstruation.

5. Hydatidiform mole bleeding

Bleeding caused by this reason often occurs 28 days after embryo transfer. If intermittent small amounts of bleeding occur at this time, and are accompanied by repeated heavy bleeding, blisters are seen in the blood, and even severe vomiting, high blood pressure, foamy urine, edema, etc. occur, pregnant women should be alert to the possibility of hydatidiform mole and return to the hospital for follow-up as soon as possible.
