What to do if you have stomach pain and diarrhea in early pregnancy

Diarrhea and colds are common diseases in life. Healthy people can often recover without medication, and will not leave any sequelae. However, if they occur in women who are preparing for pregnancy or pregnant, they need to be taken seriously, otherwise they may cause serious effects on the fetus in the abdomen. So what should I do if I have stomach pain and diarrhea in the early stages of pregnancy?

First, what should I do if I have abdominal pain and diarrhea in early pregnancy? The most common cause of diarrhea in pregnant women is bacterial infection, among which the most common pathogens are Salmonella, Shigella dysenteriae, Campylobacter and viruses. Food poisoning or viral infections in other parts of the body can also cause diarrhea in expectant mothers, so during pregnancy, especially in the first three months, the cleanliness of food must be strictly controlled.

Second, it may be caused by cold. You can try to apply hot water bottle to your stomach. Be careful not to make it too hot, wrap the hot water bottle with a towel before placing it on your stomach. Apply hot compress 3-5 times a day, each time lasting about 20 minutes, which has a certain effect on diarrhea caused by cold. While applying hot compress, you can drink a bowl of brown sugar ginger water, which can warm the stomach and stop diarrhea.

Third, maintain the fetus. The hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) injection is a common method of preserving pregnancy, but it is best to decide whether to get the injection after understanding the status of hCG and progesterone in the body. You can also try taking Chinese medicine to regulate your body and protect your pregnancy.

Fourth, some pregnant women think they have diarrhea as long as their stools are a little loose or occur more frequently, and become very nervous because they are worried about the adverse effects on the fetus. Experts emphasize that excessive mental stress is actually harmful to the fetus. Although diarrhea can cause abnormal gastrointestinal motility, diarrhea twice a day generally does not affect the fetus. If it is mild diarrhea, pregnant women only need to go to the toilet like ordinary people to excrete toxins, then there will be no abdominal pain and diarrhea.

What should I do if I have stomach pain and diarrhea in early pregnancy? Frequent and severe diarrhea should be taken seriously, because repeated diarrhea leads to frequent gastrointestinal motility, which can cause uterine contractions over time and lead to miscarriage or premature birth. Therefore, if pregnant women have recurring diarrhea and the diarrhea lasts for more than 24 hours, they must see a doctor as soon as possible.
