Premenstrual hormone changes

Premenstrual hormone changes

Hormones are a very important material component for maintaining the normal functioning of the human endocrine system. Especially for women, the hormone secretion in the body is different at different times of each month. Among them, the hormonal changes in women's bodies are particularly obvious before and after ovulation and before and after menstruation. The reason why women have ovulation and menstruation is because of estrogen. What are the hormonal changes in a woman's body before her period?

Generally speaking, about 15 days after ovulation, the corpus luteum will atrophy, and the body's estrogen and progesterone will stop being secreted. At this time, the blood vessels in the endometrium will contract, and the endometrium will necrotize and fall off, leading to bleeding and menstruation. Therefore, conception is usually not possible during menstruation.

However, after the corpus luteum atrophies in the previous menstrual cycle, the secretion of estrogen and progesterone will drop rapidly. However, the hypothalamus produces gonadotropin, which, after release, enters the anterior pituitary through the pituitary portal vein system, thereby promoting the secretion and release of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone. Afterwards, under the combined action of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone, the follicles will slowly mature and produce estrogen, causing proliferative changes in the endometrium. However, after the follicles mature, the first peak of estrogen in the female body will appear.

After ovulation, estrogen levels temporarily drop, followed by a second, lower peak. Afterwards, the corpus luteum will secrete a large amount of estrogen and progesterone; after negative feedback regulation, the estrogen and progesterone levels will decrease again. However, estrogen secretion will reach its peak about ten days after the end of menstruation.

Menstruation is not only a natural physiological cycle change in the body, but we can also determine whether there is any abnormality in the body through menstrual symptoms. Therefore, women must take good care of their bodies during menstruation, keep their bodies warm, and maintain a regular life and a balance between work and rest.
