What tests should be done in breast reexamination

When people have symptoms such as breast blockage and breast hyperplasia, severe cases need to go to the hospital for treatment. Excessive breast hyperplasia must be removed by surgery. After breast surgery, patients should carefully take care of their bodies and not eat foods that affect wound recovery or stimulate the breasts. At the same time, they should go to the hospital for regular checkups to check the recovery of breast growth. So what tests should be done for breast checkups?

After the adjuvant treatment of breast cancer is completed, regular check-ups are required as prescribed by the doctor. Generally speaking, a review should be conducted every three months within two years, every six months from two to five years, and once a year for more than five years.

The contents of the review mainly include: a blood test, including blood routine, liver and kidney function, tumor markers, a full set of sex hormones, etc.

Because radiotherapy and chemotherapy have strong cytotoxicity, they are toxic not only to tumor cells but also to normal cells. They may cause bone marrow suppression and severe decrease in white blood cells, and may also cause damage to liver cells. Therefore, during the treatment, blood counts and liver function should be closely monitored and checked regularly. If the white blood cell count is severely reduced and liver function is severely damaged, the treatment plan should be changed.

Second, breast cancer patients should take chest X-rays regularly to monitor whether there are metastatic lesions in the lungs;

Third, do regular abdominal B-ultrasound examinations to observe the condition of the abdomen; Fourth, if symptoms such as low back pain and limb pain occur, a bone scan should be done at the same time to observe whether there is bone metastasis;

Fifth, if a headache occurs and the pain is severe, progressively worsens, or is accompanied by nausea and vomiting, etc., we need to do a brain MRI to rule out brain metastasis.

Sixth, patients who are taking tamoxifen also need to undergo a gynecological B-ultrasound, patients who are taking aromatase inhibitors need to have their bone density checked, and patients who are using targeted therapy need to have a cardiac color ultrasound checked.

If at any time you experience unexplained weight loss, fatigue, bone pain, or feel swollen lymph nodes in your armpits or elsewhere, you should see your doctor without waiting for a follow-up checkup.
