What not to eat after egg retrieval

There is a limit to the number of eggs that each woman's uterus can produce in her lifetime. Therefore, when a woman has her eggs removed from her uterus, it causes great harm to her uterus and body. Therefore, women must pay attention to their diet and take care of their bodies after egg retrieval. After egg retrieval, you should eat more nutrients and supplements that are beneficial to your body, and avoid eating foods that are harmful to your body. Let’s take a look at what you can’t eat after egg retrieval?

After egg retrieval, you should consume more high-protein foods, such as milk, fish soup, etc., to prevent the occurrence of OHSS.

After the egg retrieval operation, there will be a small amount of exudate around the ovaries, which may cause mild abdominal pain, back pain and other discomforts, so you should rest in bed for 1-2 days. Because the ovaries are larger than usual during the ovulation cycle, in order to prevent ovarian torsion, daily activities such as turning over and going to the toilet should be light, slow and steady. Strenuous activities, bathing in a tub, sexual intercourse and vaginal douching are prohibited. Please use the medicine as directed by your doctor. If you experience sudden severe abdominal pain, fever, or vaginal bleeding, please contact the Reproductive Center in time. If you have previously taken drugs such as prednisone, metformin, and Silian, take them orally at the original dose and obtain a doctor's consent before stopping the medication. Progesterone should be injected intramuscularly starting on the day of egg retrieval. Progesterone is an oily agent that is not easily absorbed and easily forms nodules. The following precautions should be taken: alternate sides, deep intramuscular injection with a long needle. Regularly apply hot compresses with boiled and sterilized towels for thirty minutes, taking care to avoid burns; or apply thin potato slices locally.

Complications of egg retrieval

Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)

Due to the growth of multiple follicles, some factors in the body change, causing the fluid in the blood vessels to leak into the abdominal cavity and even into the chest cavity, causing pleural effusion and ascites. The incidence is about 10%. Most people have mild symptoms, such as abdominal distension, abdominal discomfort, and mild nausea, which can be left untreated; but a few people will experience severe abdominal distension, oliguria, abdominal pain, poor appetite, and even symptoms such as chest tightness and shortness of breath. In this case, they need to be given intravenous fluids or even hospitalized for treatment. Less than 1% of people may develop blood clots or kidney failure.
