The best time to do a breast self-examination

Breasts are very important organs and are also secondary sexual characteristics of women. Women's breasts include various tissues such as mammary glands, so women's breasts are more prone to disease. As a woman, you should regularly self-examine your breasts through various methods such as checking and touching to achieve a thorough examination, which can avoid some problems and troubles.

Self-test method

To facilitate memorization, experts have summarized four simple steps:

look

Face the mirror with your hands down, and carefully observe whether the two sides of your breasts are symmetrical in size, whether there are any abnormal protrusions, and whether the skin and nipples have sunken or eczema.

touch

Lift your left hand to the back of your head, use your right hand to check your left breast, and gently press the breast with the fingertips to feel whether there are any lumps. Start checking from the nipple in a circular clockwise direction, gradually moving outward (about three or four circles) until the entire breast is checked. Use the same method to check the right breast.

Lying

Lie down flat, place a pillow under your left shoulder, bend your right hand under your head, and repeat the "touch" method to check both breasts.

screw

In addition to the breasts, the armpits should also be checked for swollen lymph nodes. Finally, press and twist the nipple with your thumb and index finger, paying attention to whether there is any abnormal secretion.

Judgment method

To check whether the breasts are healthy, we can judge through the following aspects.

1. Skin: The color of the breast skin is normal without edema, rash, ulceration, superficial vein distension, skin wrinkles or orange peel-like changes.

2. Nipple and areola: There is no local redness, swelling or other changes in the areola and nipple, and the nipple is not inverted.

3. Nipple discharge: It is necessary to check whether there is nipple discharge, and to check in detail whether it is overflowing on its own or after squeezing, whether it is unilateral or bilateral, and what the characteristics of the discharge are.

4. Breast lumps: Check the location, shape, size, number, texture, surface smoothness, mobility and tenderness of breast lumps.

5. Appearance: The size and position of the breast are normal.
