What to do if you get drunk during early pregnancy

Pregnant women need to pay special attention in the early stages of pregnancy because the fetus is not yet stable in their belly. Otherwise, miscarriage may occur if they are not careful. There are many precautions in the early stages of pregnancy, and dietary taboos are very important, such as not smoking, not drinking, not eating spicy, cold, irritating foods, etc. Some women may get drunk in the early stages of pregnancy, so what should they do in this situation?

What to do if you accidentally drink alcohol during early pregnancy

During pregnancy, pregnant women should not drink alcohol, especially in the first four months of pregnancy. Because alcohol can be transferred to the fetus through the placenta, excessive alcohol can cause fetal alcohol poisoning and fetal alcohol syndrome. Alcohol can also flow into the fetus's brain through the placenta, thereby invading the fetus's defenseless brain and destroying brain cells. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy may also cause complications, leading to serious consequences such as miscarriage, premature birth and low birth weight of the newborn.

If you really accidentally drink alcohol and are worried about the impact on the fetus. First, go to the hospital for a check-up and tell the doctor about your drinking history (including the time, amount, and frequency of drinking) so that the doctor can have a record and do a targeted examination.

Secondly, pregnant women should supplement more folic acid and vitamins. Both folic acid and vitamins help prevent fetal malformations and promote the healthy development of the baby. Don't take folic acid blindly, you should follow the doctor's advice. Vitamin supplements are best obtained through food, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits.

Finally, don’t worry too much about this. If you drink alcohol without knowing it, your body will first break down and filter out some of the alcohol. For the fetus, this is a process of survival of the fittest. If your baby is "not able to handle alcohol" during early pregnancy, he or she may abort quietly without you knowing it. But since the fetus can survive, it means that it has been selected by nature. Worrying too much will be more harmful to the fetus.
