The woman's Adam's apple is a little prominent

We know that one of the biggest differences between men and women is that men's Adam's apple is larger. Women love beauty. If they find that their Adam's apple is relatively large, it may easily affect their image. Therefore, special attention should be paid to changes in women's Adam's apples. Because each woman's physical condition is different, it is possible that a woman's Adam's apple will be prominent. So why does a woman’s Adam’s apple seem a little prominent?

The Adam's apple, to put it simply, refers to the cartilaginous protrusion in the human throat. The human larynx is supported by 9 pieces of cartilage (3 single pieces: thyroid cartilage, cricoid cartilage and epiglottic cartilage; 6 pieces are paired, angular cartilage, cuneiform cartilage and arytenoid cartilage), of which the most important and largest piece is called the thyroid cartilage. In fact, we all have had Adam's apples, whether men or women. The fetus's throat bones begin to develop when it is 2 months old, and continue to grow every year until 5 to 6 years after birth. However, from the age of five or six to puberty, the growth of laryngeal cartilage basically stops. So, whether it's a boy or a girl, their thyroid cartilage is the same size.

However, after entering puberty, due to changes in the human body's endocrine system, the secretion of male androgens increases, secondary sexual characteristics gradually appear, and the thyroid cartilage gradually increases in size and protrudes forward. Due to the growth of the thyroid cartilage, the laryngeal cavity also increases significantly, and the vocal cords also lengthen and widen, almost 6 times that of the neonatal period. This increases the amplitude of the vocal cords and slows down the frequency, causing the boy's originally clear childish voice to become a low and thick adult voice. Just like some musical instruments, the sound from a smaller diameter tube is shriller, while the sound from a larger diameter tube is deep. The principle is the same. The original "little boy" has turned into a sexy uncle with a magnetic voice. As women's ovaries secrete more estrogen, their secondary sexual characteristics appear and their thyroid cartilage grows, but the growth rate is slow and even, so their Adam's apple generally does not stand out.

However, those girls who cannot control their Adam's apple rolling need to pay attention, because the prominence of the Adam's apple has no necessary connection with the development of the testicles and penis. Nowadays, some medical books and periodicals no longer use the prominence of the Adam's apple as a criterion for judging whether the development of male secondary sexual characteristics is normal. Some anatomy books even no longer mention the anatomical term Adam's apple. Because although some men's Adam's apple is not obvious enough, they are still very "manly" and their testicles and penis are quite well developed. Some adult males have no obvious Adam's apple, some of whom are very strong track and field athletes, gymnastics athletes, etc. They have well-developed muscles and normal male sexual characteristics. Among these men with unclear Adam's apples, the vast majority are able to get married, have normal childbearing, have no other abnormal manifestations, and no abnormalities are found in endocrine examinations.

Since the Adam's apple does not represent "manliness", it is understandable that some women have slightly protruding Adam's apples. There are three possible reasons why women have Adam's apples:

First, endocrine dysfunction: the dominant sex hormone in women's bodies is estrogen, which also contains very small amounts of androgen. However, when the secretion of female hormones is not enough, the content of male hormones increases relatively. This may also lead to masculine characteristics such as a large Adam's apple, excessive hair, and a deeper voice.

Second, genetic factors: if the father has a particularly large Adam's apple, it may be passed on to his daughter;

Third, thinness: being too thin will make you look like just bones, and the Adam's apple in your throat will appear particularly prominent.

It can be seen that the Adam's apple is not a physiological symbol of men, nor is it unique to men. Men with a less prominent Adam's apple should not feel inferior and lose confidence, and girls with a slightly prominent Adam's apple should not think that they are a "tomboy". When it comes to gender, it's very complicated and not clear-cut between men and women.
