What precautions should be taken before testing prolactin?

I believe that everyone pays special attention to their physical health, and nowadays science and technology is so advanced that when people have some diseases, they can go to the hospital for examination very conveniently. Of course, when there is no disease, they can also go for examination in advance to understand their physical condition and prevent the occurrence of some diseases. Checking prolactin is a very important behavior for the human body, and there are many precautions. The following are some of the precautions.

Things to note before prolactin test: Choose the right time to test

It is generally better to test prolactin around the second or third day of menstruation. If the examination is conducted at any time, the specific time must be noted after the examination, because the menstrual cycle can be divided into four periods: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase, and menopause, and the normal value of prolactin in each period is different. If a woman has already reached menopause, she can do the six-item prolactin test at any time.

Precautions before prolactin test 2: Fasting test

Prolactin needs to be tested on an empty stomach, so in order to ensure more accurate test results, you should fast before the test, especially when doing a prolactin test.

Precautions before prolactin test 3: Use drugs with caution

In order to ensure accurate examination, sex hormone drugs (including progesterone and estrogen) should not be used for at least one month before the examination, otherwise the results will be unreliable (except for the need to recheck sex hormones after treatment). If taken, the test should be done after the hormone is completely excreted to avoid misdiagnosis.
