Does leucorrhea with odor affect the baby?

Does leucorrhea with odor affect the baby?

There are many reasons why vaginal discharge has an odor. The most common one is gynecological diseases, such as vaginitis. This inflammation may have an adverse effect on the growth and development of the fetus. For example, if a pregnant woman has Trichomonas vaginitis, it often leads to urinary tract infection, increased vaginal discharge, premature rupture of membranes, and even miscarriage. Let's take a look at this aspect.

Does leucorrhea with odor affect the baby?

It is normal to have more vaginal discharge during pregnancy, but if there is an odor, it is probably inflammation. Taking medicine will indeed affect the baby, but it is not good to just delay it, gynecological inflammation will also affect the baby.

Several gynecological diseases that are harmful to the fetus

1. Trichomonas vaginitis

Some mothers should know that the infectious disease caused by vaginal trichomoniasis is mainly transmitted through sexual intercourse, bathing utensils, toilets, swimming pools and other channels. Trichomonas is a very small parasite that often lives in the vagina and urethra. After infection, pregnant women often have more, thinner, and slightly yellowish leucorrhea.

The symptoms of this gynecological disease are excessive vaginal discharge with purulent foam and vulvar itching. If a pregnant mother suffers from this disease, it is easy to cause premature rupture of membranes, miscarriage, premature birth, etc.

2. Bacterial vaginosis

In addition, pregnant mothers should also pay attention to bacterial vaginosis, a type of vaginitis caused by vaginal Gardnerella bacteria, which can be transmitted through sexual intercourse during pregnancy.

The main manifestation of this disease is that the leucorrhea is thin and paste-like, and the color is grayish white, milky yellow or yellow. If a pregnant mother is infected with this disease, it may also lead to premature rupture of the fetal membrane, premature birth, postpartum infection, chorioamnionitis, etc. Pregnant mothers should also pay attention to this gynecological disease.

3. Cervicitis

It is often called cervical erosion, which is basically the same thing.

The cause is usually chronic bacterial infection of the cervix, which makes the originally smooth cervix rough and prone to bleeding. Common symptoms include excessive vaginal discharge, lower back pain, and a small amount of bleeding after intercourse.

If you have cervical erosion, it will often get worse after pregnancy due to hormonal changes. Cervical erosion has basically no effect on the fetus, and it is not suitable for treatment during pregnancy. Therefore, if the mother finds cervical erosion after pregnancy, there is no need to worry too much. Just consult a doctor in time.

4. Fungal vaginitis

Candidal vaginitis usually comes from intestinal infection. Some pregnant women have fungal parasites in the large intestine, which can be transmitted to the vagina after defecation. After infection, the leucorrhea often turns into white tofu dregs. The vagina of pregnant women has low resistance to fungi and is more susceptible to infection. The clinical manifestations include dreg-like leucorrhea, frequent urination, and painful urination, which are extremely harmful to the fetus.
