How to calculate light menstrual flow

How to calculate light menstrual flow

Menstruation occurs when a woman's body matures, and usually occurs every other month. The amount of menstrual flow is not only related to the physical fitness of women themselves, but also closely related to their physical health. If a woman has a small amount of menstrual flow, it means that there may be some problems with her uterus or that there is an endocrine disorder in her body. So, what is considered a light menstrual flow?

What is considered light menstrual flow?

Menstruation is a physiological reaction of periodic uterine bleeding. How can we know whether the menstrual volume is too much or too little? Experts say that generally 30 ml of menstrual volume is too little, and 180 ml is too much. The normal amount should be 60 ml each time. This requires us to pay attention to the amount of sanitary napkins we use, and not exceed two packs per cycle. If three packs of sanitary napkins are not enough each time and each sanitary napkin is soaked, it means that the menstrual flow is too heavy. On the contrary, if one pack is not used up every time, it means that the menstrual flow is too light and you should see a doctor as soon as possible. The main reasons for oligomenorrhea are stress and sexual apathy. Women with less menstrual blood but regular menstruation rarely consult a doctor. In fact, modern women lead busy lives. After giving birth, many women have to work outside in addition to taking care of the children and doing housework. Their own hormone secretion is insufficient, and the chance of a reduced menstrual volume also increases a lot. Oligomenorrhea can be related to the menstrual cycle, such as light menstruation at the beginning of the period or light menstruation at the end of the period. If oligomenorrhea is caused by oral contraceptives or intramuscular contraceptive injections, the medication should be stopped and the disease can be treated according to the discussion and treatment of this disease. The diagnosis of oligomenorrhea generally refers to two or more consecutive occurrences. If a woman has had normal menstruation but suddenly has less menstruation, she should be aware of whether it is a sign of threatened miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy or a small amount of vaginal bleeding due to ectopic pregnancy. Further examinations are necessary to differentiate between the two.

Treatment of scanty menstruation

Common causes of scanty menstruation include:

1. Excessive scraping of the endometrium during intrauterine operation damages part of the basal layer of the endometrium, thereby reducing the amount of functional layer of the endometrium that can be repaired.

2. Severe endometrial infection, especially tuberculous endometritis, invades the basal layer of the endometrium and forms scar tissue.

3. In patients with decreased ovarian function, the secretion of sex hormones decreases, leading to thinning of the endometrium.

General treatment for light menstruation:

1. Artificial cycle treatment is not very effective for endometrial damage caused by the first two reasons, but it can be tried for 2-3 months.

2. Adjust ovarian function.

Western medicine treatment for scanty menstruation:

1. Systemic treatment: Actively treat systemic diseases, improve physical fitness, provide adequate nutrition, and maintain standard weight. For decreased menstrual volume caused by stress or mental factors, psychological treatment should be carried out to eliminate mental tension and anxiety. If it is caused by tumors, polycystic ovaries, etc., specific treatment should be carried out.

2. Hormone therapy: After clarifying the pathological link and cause, give corresponding hormone therapy to supplement the body's hormone deficiency or antagonize excess.

3. Ovulation induction treatment can be performed for patients who wish to become pregnant.

4. Consider appropriate surgical treatment for patients with tumors or intrauterine adhesions.
