Delayed and scanty menstruation

Delayed and scanty menstruation

In fact, many women have experienced irregular menstruation. But most women don't take this situation seriously. Every time my period is delayed and the amount is small, I don’t take it seriously, always thinking that it will return to normal next month. In fact, if irregular menstruation occurs, although it has a lot to do with lifestyle habits, it may also be caused by gynecological diseases that delay menstruation.

There are several situations in which the disorder of menstrual cycle or bleeding volume is manifested:

1. Irregular uterine bleeding

This is a clinical symptom, including: heavy menstrual bleeding or prolonged menstrual bleeding. It is common in diseases such as uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, endometriosis or dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

2. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding

It refers to abnormal uterine bleeding caused by endocrine regulation system disorders without obvious organic lesions in the internal and external genitalia. It is the most common type of menstrual disorder and is common in adolescence and menopause. It is divided into two categories: ovulatory and anovulatory. About 85% of cases are anovulatory functional uterine bleeding.

3. Amenorrhea

It is a common symptom in gynecological diseases and can be caused by a variety of different reasons. Amenorrhea is usually divided into primary and secondary types. Anyone who has not had menstruation by the age of 18 is called primary amenorrhea; those who have no menstruation for more than 6 months at any time after menarche and before normal menopause (except pregnancy or lactation) are called secondary amenorrhea.

4. Menopause

Menopause means the cessation of menstruation, which refers to the cessation of menstruation for more than 12 months. However, there are often changes in menstrual cycle and menstrual volume during perimenopause. It manifests as a shortened menstrual cycle, mainly a shortened follicular phase, anovulation and increased menstrual flow.

treat

1. Treat the cause

For pathological causes, corresponding treatment is needed according to the specific cause.

2. Stop bleeding and correct anemia

It is caused by long menstrual period and heavy menstrual flow. In addition to general hemostatic measures, hormones or curettage may be used to stop bleeding as appropriate. Give oral blood-enriching drugs or infusion treatment.

3. Adjustment cycle

Estrogen and progesterone alone or in combination can be used for cyclical treatment, or traditional Chinese medicine can be used for treatment.

4. Infertility

Dysfunction of one or more links in the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis causes anovulation, which is one of the pathophysiological bases of menstrual disorders and one of the causes of infertility. It is a problem that many patients urgently need to solve. Some patients may ovulate but have insufficient luteal function, which can also cause infertility. Different treatments are selected according to the patient's condition to improve ovarian function or replace part of the function of the pituitary gland and hypothalamus.

5. Reduce the occurrence of menstrual disorders

Before puberty, children should learn and understand some health knowledge, have a correct understanding of the physiological phenomenon of menstruation, and eliminate fear and tension. During menstruation, you should keep warm and avoid cold stimulation; pay attention to rest, reduce fatigue, strengthen nutrition, and enhance physical fitness; you should try to control drastic mood swings, avoid strong mental stimulation, and maintain a happy mood.
